Starting issues

Featured Replies

Hi all, new to my Audi A5 Coupe.  Love the car, but have an issue that is intermittent, but not getting better. Had the car 4 months now, had to have a new ecu, which was replaced under warranty with the garage I bought it from. I was told that where the ecu is located, the plastic cover over it let's water in, bad design? Starting procedure is, put key fob in slot in dash, push it and press clutch. But this ia nit happening.  Dash lights up,  but won't start. I have only found one solution which is remove the plastic cover that lies over the ecu and across the front of car,  ans wipe area around ecu. Is there anything I can do, ir has any one else had this issue. Thanks for reading this essay. Appreciate any help.

Im taking car in next week to get it looked at. Now got another issue, which Im sure I can fix. Had the misfortune of driving through a minor flooded road tonight, only option if road I could take, took it slow, but idiot on opposite side of road thought it was a good idea to take road at speed...now have a sloshing sound at back if drivers side, a job to look at tomorrow.

No water in car, but undertray has come off, was dragging and held on with one clip. Is that an expensive fix?

Hello Kevin,

Worth looking on EBay for fixings similar to the remaining one. Usually self tapping screws that go into a slide on captive chimney nut. Buy stainless self tappers.
I’ve used Kay’s Fasteners ( on EBay) to good effect.

Regards,

Gareth.

Thanks Kevin, but you have just repeated the question I tried to advise on in my reply to you.

Re. costing:- depended on whether the tray is still in tact or not.

Whether you supply the new fixings or not.

Difficult to estimate labour costs since we don’t have any idea who you intend using, but I would guess at an hour’s work.
