Dash board instrument cluster

Featured Replies

Last week I went to drive my Audi a3 but had various engine lights and when the AA came out the diagnostic showed no faults, he unplugged the battery and replugged it in but no change. He suggested the instrument cluster was broken. I booked it into the garage today and when I went to drive it a week later the dash board was back to normal. Is this a regular thing that it can just fix or could it be a connection issue? This is the first time it’s happened and owned the car since 2016

Hi Gareth,

I don’t recall but it’s relatively new and no issues with starting the car.

Regards

Jen

Thanks Jen,

Due to the current electrical complexity of vehicles, the fact that the battery starts the car, is no guarantee that it’s able to satisfy the monitored requirements of all electrical components.

If it were mine, I’d still get a free ( eliminating?) battery test - Halfords store will do that - before spending any money on other components. It would be to your advantage not to rush into replacing the battery, if found to be substandard. Just report back of us first.
Regards,

Gareth.
