Hi I have a 22 plate a3 reversed up a kerb and got a adaptive headlight fault on dash so read fault code and it was c103631 left rear headlight height sensor no signal so I replaced the part but still getting same fault code does new part need calibrating to work.

I think it does need calibration 

Confirmed. It's in basic settings on VCDS. Needs to go into service mode, adjust headlights if necessary, then store setting as new zero level. That's car not loaded, on level ground, etc.
