VCDS Fault codes

Featured Replies

Hi,

Anyone ever had these back from the VCDS, the engine light is on along with the flashing glow plug L. The engine is also in limp mode not going above 3000revs.

It's beenleft running with the revs at 3000 for 25 mins and this cleared the particular filter light....

I cant do a forced regen from my VCDS as its greyed out due to a missing file.....

Not sure whats going on or how serious it is now though, looking at selling soon so cautious of costing a fortune!!

Hi if you have the later edition of VCDS that won't allow static regeneration but should have the facility to regenerate while driving, check the the readings on live data for the EGT sensors and the DPF pressure sensor also check your soot and ash loadings.

Unfortunately I can't get into any of it, its all greyed out, followed all the you tube vids but haven't got the access to get obtain the readings :0(

Like I say concerned to take into auldi as Im predicting a costly bill!!! Potentially a write off!!

Hi is it a cloned version of VCDS ?, to get to live data you should go to select click on engine then go to advanced measuring and then scroll through live data options, you might have to do the security access first but it gives you the code to get into the engine anyway.

Hi sorry for the late reply, you either have a cloned version or your version needs reloading, where did you get it from,

Steve.

That's a uds version , have you done the security access code first before trying the regen? Also to do the regen the car has to be to temp, all aux heaters /rear screen ect on and blower on full.

Hi you can't do a static regen on a car that year because the DPF is mounted within the engine bay right next to the CAT, VCDS won't do it it will only allow regen whilst driving, believe me I tried loads of times with my one, I contacted Ross Tech and they agreed it won't happen as there is a high probability of setting the car alight due to where the DPF is mounted and having no airflow.

Steve.

Odd that it won't let you, my A4 had the dpf mounted in the same place but you could do a forced static regeneration even when they advised a fire risk if it was too badly blocked. But saying that also I was getting dpf issues with it clogging but it wasn't actually that causing the issue. The intake swirl flap broke the arm connecting the swirl flap to the motor which threw the mixture off causing dpf, egr and limp mode issues. Odd thing was it gave me intake throttle bodies alarms ect and no swirl flap alarm as the motor was still opening and closing properly only it wasn't connected to anything 🤦🏻

Hi anything 14 on won't do it on VCDS, I now have a 2021 Passat and thats the same, the swirl flap issue will always throw the mixture out in your case they were probably partially closed which would account for the over rich fuelling which in turn will block the DPF the only solution to that one is buy a delete kit which keeps the flaps wide open, on the later diesel Audis the swirl system is fixed in the throttle body as part of the casting where it attaches to the intake manifold.

Steve.

Yeah thankfully this was pre 2013 so dpf, egr and swirl delete... getting 57mpg over the original 42mpg I was getting. Pity you can't do this now with the new MOT checks here

Tbh without a dpf you still pass emissions testing here so it's not making that much difference other than causing you to use a ton more fuel a year so what's the actual trade off with having higher fuel usage vrs how much it actually reduces emissions
