Sourcing a genuine 20" spare wheel/tool kit for A6 C8 S line

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I’m trying to source a genuine Audi spare wheel setup for my Audi A6 C8 40 TFSI FWD S line Black Edition saloon (4A2) with factory 20” alloys.

I’m looking for:

  • Genuine space saver or full-size spare wheel

  • Jack and wheel brace/tools

  • Boot fitting foam/tool insert

Bizarrely, Audi won’t sell me a space saver spare wheel for the car, even though other manufacturers seem happy to supply them for equivalent vehicles.

Does anyone know:

  • The correct part numbers

  • Which spare wheel size fits over the brakes on the 20” setup

  • Best places to source genuine parts (Audi dealer, breakers, eBay sellers, etc.)

Any advice or photos of your setup would be appreciated.

Hi,

Try the wheel shop for a space saver wheel and jack, they have your size in stock.

maybe not genuine Audi, but excellent quality.

I have one from there for my q3.

p.s. Audi supplied the foam fitting for tools etc.

hope this helps.

Hi Again,

I found that the toolkit was very robust.

I'm sure you will find it ok.

I'll likely go for the Wheel Shop space saver unless a genuine, immaculate condition Audi versions shows up on the breakers network/Ebay in the coming week.

Oof! Audi Parts Direct quoted £475 just for genuine space saver wheel.

Hi Again,

That is a ludicrous price for a space saver wheel from Audi. (£475)

just to lie in the boot, and you may never need it.

the wheel shop is your best option as far as I can see,

unless you have plenty of money to throw away,

I got may spare from the wheel shop and which was genuine looking at the part number the brought the jack from the dealer

Thanks for the photos. Do you have the part number for the jack and the housing to attach it to boot floor please? Guessing these are expensive?

Got the receipt from the jack and bracket but the price is from 2022 when I brought them ! Just remember to order the jack handle as it didn’t come with the jack

OK, got the spacesaver wheel from the wheelshop and while it fits the hole in the boot floor, the boot floor won't close flat. The height of the wheel is the same as the boot floor on the sides, so the reinforced section of the lifting floor which should slot into the cavity, sits too high on the wheel. So there floor doesn't feel stable and is leaving a raised gap either side.

Am I missing something or has the Wheelshop sold me the wrong wheel?

Could the answer be as simple as inverting either the disc or the wheel?

Tried this, but need to fit the sub. The lip of the spacesaver after the beading edge of the tyre, rests on the same section of boot floor and is symmetrical width/height on both sides - it's mirrored.

There is a cross beam nearest the back of the car that has no indentation (then the floor opens out even more, perhaps for tools or a full hybrid battery) - so when the metal rim of the wheel rests on it, this dictates it's resting place and the height it will sit. It's seems really off to me. The metal spacesaver is basically 2-3cm too tall for my boot floor.

Turns out it's not the right spacesaver. The steel rim is 6J depth while the OEM Audi version is 4.5J. It was never going to sit low enough - to be fair to the Wheelshop they have agreed to pickup for refund.

Sorry to hear that mate

Here’s a few pics of mine in my boot

Just looked at mine and it’s 4 1/2 J

Thanks for the photos. Interesting your wheel well is felt lined - mine is raw metal.

Are you not carrying the jack?

Hello to you All

1st post & collecting new to me C8 Avant tomorrow. My car has 18's - would this be the same wheel with a different tyre profile? Wheelshop dont seem to list an 18"?

Cheers

Dave
