hi guys, this is probably a long shot but im looking for an engine for my 1998 a4 2.8 [engine code ACK],i bought the car through the forum a few months ago and got it shipped here to ireland,it has low compression on bank 2 cylinders so a replacement engine is my plan,if anyone knows of one for sale or point me in the right direction id really appreciate it,thanks Greg

Thanks Cliff ill keep the forum updated on any developements

How low is the compression, I've had some cars that just needed some gas treatment in the fuel tank that help clean the valves. I did an a2 last week that brought the compression up from 50 psi to 90 psi.

hi matty thanks for your reply, the guy who done the compression test said on bank 2 he was getting 6 bar where as on bank 1 he was getting 15 or 16 bar,the previous owner is very surprised to hear about this issue as he said it drove into the spot with no issues, the fuel pump was knackered when i got the car so i fitted a new one thinking it would run but now ive this problem

90 psi is still abysmally low, indicating gas loss at valves or rings.
