Aluminium roof bars for 2011 a3 sportback

Featured Replies

Hi there im new to the forums. I recently purchased an a3 sportback and am looking if anyone can help me find where i can buy these aluminium roof bars. Bt theblooks id say there for decor only as you couldnt attach anything to them really. I think they improve the looks massively so dieing to find some for my car.  Any help would be great.

Did you have any luck sourcing these? I'm looking for a set too as i agree, they improve the look of the car.

Hello Bradon and Jason,

Not sure if I'm barking up wrong trees with you model years, but I'm pretty sure the earlier than 2008 models may not/did not, have mounting points for these bars. As I understand it, they can be retro fitted, but it means drilling the roof at the appropriate points!

As I say, I could be wrong, but might be worth checking before buying.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hi i have 2 seat in silver/chrome which I'm looking to sell.

  • Good Condition.
  • Genuine Audi OEM.
  • To fit 5door Sportback 2004-2012 8P
  • A3/S3/RS3

Hello Tabstar,

Can you confirm that the roof had to be drilled on say a 2006 Sportback to allow these to be fitted?

Might be worth listing these under Sales and Wants.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Yes to fit these, the roof needs to be drilled, 4 holes on each side to secure the rails properly.

There have been some cases over the years where by people have glued the rails down. Obviously this isn't the right way to go about fitting these.

Thanks for clarifying that Tabstar.

Now who is brave enough to drill their roof? Any drilling templates to go with these?

Gluing on!! Must remember to stay well back behind any A3 with roof rails, just incase they have been glued on!

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Come on a decent drill and a metal bit, 8 holes whats to be worried about :)

Some a3 have the holes marked on the inside others dont not sure why!

i dont have a template but im sure you can find one online.

:)

No problem at all, if you dismiss the possibility of holes in the roof in wrong places, holes in headlining where you didn't think you would have them. Um? Now what are we going to do?

i must have been luck when i fitted them to my old a3 8p. everything was perfect.

i guess you'll have to live without the roof rails

Hey dude. That's a very good decision to install some roof rail, because they are really useful and comfortable. Here(https://toolsspecialist.com) you can find a top list of them, this is definitely going to help you choose the most affordable and with high quality product. Send us a photo when you install them, I am really curious how it's going too look ;)
