quattro clutch slipping after hard launch

Featured Replies

Hello guys, I have a problem with my 2.0 170hp quattro. I did a couple of hard launches on friday night dumping the clutch (it's my first quattro car and I didn't know that the clutch shouldn't be dumped on these) and on the last it slipped as hell in first and second gear around 4000 rpm. I drove it nicely since then but yesterday I noticed that the clutch was slipping a little bit only if I floored it in first gear, other gears work fine. Should I prepare for a new clutch?

Hi Dragos,

Sorry to say but I'd expect the worst. Not only that but I'd suspect it may require both clutch and flywheel. Worst case scenario you could have damaged the Quattro system.

The Quattro system is very clever but it can be sensitive. Even uneven Tyre wear can damage it!

I'd get this sorted sooner rather than later.

Cheers

Steve
