  1. Hi usual scollops from a dealer, they want to sell you a new one with sensors probably north of 5k, please ask them if they can supply you with the following, A, soot level calculated B, soot load measured C, ash level, the calculated measurement is normally slightly higher as this is what tells the ECU to initiate a regeneration, if the calculated measurement is a lot higher than the measured it means a sensor EGT or DPF pressure sensor is misbehaving both are cheaper to replace by a long way, is it the engine light that is on code p2002 or is the DPF light on, if its the engine light that is on it is most likely the low pressure EGR blocked which is common on these engines but again no where near as expensive as a new full EGR, find a vag specialist near you and have a full diagnostic run done with a print out of the codes. Steve.
  2. Thanks Tom, My advice would be not to fiddle with this new car, but to return it to the/a main dealer and get it corrected under warranty.OK, a 50 mile trip ( no one nearer?). You have invested a lot of funds in this vehicle, so surely it’s worth a day of your time. I think I might know what is wrong with it, but… Regards, Gareth.
  3. Even if there is an easy fix, I think it would be worth taking it back to the dealer to avoid any possibility of invalidating the guarantee.
  4. Might be a way simply to get Audi to honour the warranty. The franchise garage submit the claim and Audi UK authorise. Either way - the term probably isn't that helpful. It would be interesting to see the state of the EGR valve. What's the mileage on this 2023 A6?
  5. Hello Sulaimaan, Where have you looked for service history? Would you be buying it from a dealer or privately? How long has the current registered owner owned it. Have you checked the on-line MOT histories? Have run run an HPI type check on it? I’ve just used VCheck at just £9.99 - very comprehensive report. Not sure about the 2.0 TFSi, but I believe 2011 was within the year band of skinny piston rings and high oil consumption. Please come back to us with some answers. Regards, Gareth.
  6. Apologies Chris. Regards, Gareth.
  7. Maidstone to London is an hour each way; Maidstone to Framlingham is three hours each way. Those journeys should be more than enough to induce regular regenerations to keep the DPF clear. Have you had any engine or Adblue warnings other than DPF?
  8. I don't know where I have put the print out. I think I might have binned it by accident. I need to get to the dealers again and get another printout.
  9. Thanks guys. I’ve listed my RS4 on this site, as well as on RS246 (long time member) and Audi-Sport. Will see what interest I get. I am not in a rush to sell it, and it needs to go to an enthusiast as it is absolutely mint. WBAC don’t have good pricing for high performance cars as there is too much risk with them. Motorway I have a bad experience - they give you an indication which you can reject but if you decide to go to ‘auction’ you commit to sell. My VW Up! Got one bid at the reserve and it went - which in hindsight I should have put the reserve higher, but they suggested a low reserve to drum up bidding. My local VW garage bought it and were amazed at the price they paid - I felt the fool… if nothing comes from the forums in the next week or so I’ll put it up on AutoTrader, PistonHeads and maybe eBay. Thanks again. Sam
  10. Hi Magnet, I've recently had a complete engine rebuild at considerable cost. All the big ticket items have been replaced etc. Unfortunately the engine seized last year which required a complete rebuild starting with crankshaft, pistons, rods, block resleeving, etc all major components have been replaced and all plastic pipes etc, water pump, aux pump, thermostat, super charger bricks, complete set of new injectors, front seats reconditioned last year, its had in excess of 15k worth of work, so guess its because of my investment im seeking a higher agreed value. It's also a very well spec'd car with just under 10k worth of manufacturer optional extras including the desirable rear sports diff, MRC Stage 2+ and custom exhaust system. The car usually only covers around 2-3k miles per annum under my ownership. This will be my forever car...it maybe getting on a little now but imo its got that build quality that Audis were known for before we ended up with big chunks of plastic everywhere.
  11. I doubt it Richard. Any significant modification usually invalidates the warranty, whether it is related to the problem or not. For your sake I'd be glad to be proved wrong.
  12. Hi, I have had my A3 40 TFSI e for about 6 months now and have just done my first long distance run (200 miles each way) with no easy access to recharge while away, so I ran the car in Battery Save Mode most of the time - still uses the battery for initial pulling away but then switches to the petrol engine and stays in petrol mode for most of the time - I only switched to electric mode when in the town centre. So all of the motorway running was just using the petrol engine. I found the drive very good with no concerns about the performance - only niggle is the tyre roar especially on some of our crappy concrete motorway surfaces! A few other comments on using the different modes... Day to day, I leave it in pure electric mode for all local journeys (up 30 miles total). For slightly longer days out etc (up to say 100 miles total) I switch to hybrid and then for the longer runs use the battery save mode, perhaps switching to hybrid on the way home to use up any remaining battery. All works very well and the switching between electric and petrol is totally seamless and you often don't know which is being used, unless you look at the dashboard! I had been running most of the time in the Dynamic setting (rarely have I also used the Sport mode on the gearbox as that does make the petrol engine a bit thrashy) but for the longer trip I have been using the Comfort setting and I'm tempted to leave it in that now. I also purchased the Adaptive Cruise Control via FOD. This worked very well on the long journey, but I would suggest using it in the Comfort setting - in the Dynamic setting it will get you back to the set speed as quickly as possible when you signal and pull out to overtake, which on a busy motorway I found too aggressive at times. BTW, in the battery save mode over the longer distance, it quoted about 55 mpg. Anyhow, those are my thoughts and overall I am very happy with the car, having come from a nearly new BMW 420i.
  13. Very risky without a service history. Walk away from the deal.
