  1. Thank you Gareth i am very grateful 👍
  2. Yeah no worries however like Stevey says They are 2 different cars with 2 different engines running off 2 different fuels so there solutions will not likely be the same as there could be a million issues in between the two of them and my car/engine hates aftermarket part's but yeah I hope you find the problem, good luck mate 👊👍
  3. Cannot see the point in using an A3 petrol throttle body as a bench mark against an A6 diesel ultra, your throttle body is on the inlet manifold at the end right next to the EGR and both are water cooled, his vehicle on the other hand has a throttle boy under the inlet manifold which has no water cooling and runs on a completely different system, ergo the chances of you having a cheap aftermarket unit fitted are non existent as all the throttle bodies for the Ultra system whatever make have been used as O.E. at some point and my one only failed at around 200k. Steve.
  4. Welcome David from the homeland. If you do a search of very recent posts you will find reference to someone else looking for a part number. Just follow the reply to that. Regards, Gareth.
  5. Thank you for those comments though, as a petrolhead myself, I'm already aware that excessive oil consumption can't be good for anything! In my early days as a car owner in the 1960s high oil consumption of many engines like 2-strokes and Jaguars was more or less taken for granted, but fortunately no longer. I just humbly offered my thoughts about my 'partial solution' to those who might have been told they need a new engine.
  6. It's unfortunate that cars with those dreadful engines are still permitted to be sold. Even worse is that the trade knows about the fault and yet conceals it from buyers. Be aware that you might have a problem at the next MOT test. All the oil the car is burning will be measured as emissions in the exhaust.
  7. Hi it might improve a little more as Audi quotes every thousand miles at least a litre is normal, not normal as the only other car I have found with this type of thirst are MINI and my niece ditched hers a while ago when she found out she was spending a minimum of £30 a month on oil, every later model Audi survives on losing about 50ml of oil between extended service intervals, also imagine what all that semi burnt oil will do for the catalyst and sensors. Steve.
  8. Hi the crank position sensor is at the back of the engine where the gearbox meets the engine, bit of a sod to get to but doable, then again looking at your symptoms I would be inclined to look at the DMF or Mechatronics unit which would be favourite as these things only ever throw a code when they are really knackered, I understand the process that replacing the position sensor is the cheapest option to start with and hopefully that will cure it. Steve.
