  1. Pads usually come with new shims. The shims have flexibility to bend slightly, and again in my experience are usually a tight fit, and even worse if there's corrosion on the pad carrier. There's always the chance pads were wrong in terms of part number right from the get-go, unless you have paperwork and you can cross check?
  2. Thanks to every body who commented I’m booking it in ASAP to have the belt done as peace of mind me
  3. I’ve got it booked into a garage next week
  4. Level sensor, or quite possibly a poor connection onto it, on the reservoir. Worth getting some contact cleaner and removing the plug, spray and refit. Regards, Gareth.
  5. Do let us know Collin, because if it fits it would represent a saving of between £200 and £400 for anybody in the same position.
  6. OK, I think I've found the answer: https://tinyurl.com/e5n7krh2 Gas strut retaining clip on Ebay. I've just ordered a pair and will let you know suitability. Credit to my son who found this while we were discussing 3D printing.
  7. Hello both. Not sure if Riddy ever found out why, but I did the exact same thing, and after (a LOT) of back and forth with Audi connect, I was informed that my 2018 A5 (or any others before 2020) were not fitted with the auxiliary heater required to allow remote heating. This was confusing, since on the spec list on my myaudi app for the car, it clearly lists auxiliary electric heater, but when speaking to the Audi guy on the phone (pretty certain he was, in fact, a robot....) I told him that the app states the car must be fitted with the aux heater, and the spec says it is, but he simply kept repeating that the car was not compatible. Eventually after speaking to someone else, they advised that apparently this was only started to be built in to the cars to be able to remotely operate the heater from 2020 onwards, so A5's from 2018, 2019, and some 2020 will not be able to access this feature. Hope this helps.
  8. Will do, 🤞, just checked and the Severn Seas Highway(V-159 which is the ro-ro ship the car is booked on is due to dock in Shanghai today after leaving Hiroshima yesterday with its next port of call being Pyeongtaek in South Korea before Singapore so looks to be on track
  9. On a 2021 car, you can probably wait until later in the year to get the timing belt changed. That said low mileage is still no guarantee, or is a visual check of the belt. If you’re keeping the car, get it done is my advice. As mentioned, VAG are constantly revising timing belt intervals for their cars in order to remain competitive. Ultimately it comes down to your attitude to risk. Audi introduced long service intervals of up to 18k miles which was utter madness, primarily for fleet buyers or private cars on finance deals, so servicing costs would reduce. Of course when 3 year PCP deals ended, the cars were back on the forecourt and it’s usually unsuspecting owners down the line who have footed the bill due to excessive engine wear. I can guarantee if the belt snaps, the service manager will remark it’s highly unusual. Audi may throw in a goodwill payment in kind, but who knows. Anyway, we’ve given you the facts. Best of luck to you.
  10. Interesting import. Regards upgrades. These are rarely economical, unless the car is a long-term keeper, however coming from a BMW 650i to an SUV, then it’s about what you want, rather than need. There are lots of Audi retro-fitters, so anything is possible. Couple of things I’d point out. Pretty sure Q3 is Haldex, so keep on top of servicing. You can read more into it yourself, depending on version and removal of filter, as well as oil change. I’ll bet Singapore roads aren’t full of potholes. If you’re thinking of larger road wheels, then consider any impact on handling or ride quality.
  11. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 Looks a lovely car. Make sure the car gets correctly registered with DVLA as we've seen other members have issues regarding emissions classifications etc because the correct paperwork wasn't supplied. Make sure you get the certificate of conformity from Singapore Audi. Celtic are well known and respected.
  12. Steve’s the all in plan that Audi do and that I paid for won’t cover the Cost of the replacement belt and tensioners
  13. It means you have a poor or non-existant connection somewhere between the aerial and the radio. Do you have a meter to test for continuity at various points?
  14. Hello Sean, I’m hoping some of the following will be of use in your decision making. As the insurance companies state ‘ we cannot decide what is right for you, but we can provide you with information that will help you to make a decision that best suits you’. If this were mine, this is what I would do:- Sit down with a glass of wine (or cup of tea) and thoroughly read all the threads on this topic on this forum - enter Cambelt into the search box, and select ‘Everywhere’ from the drop-down menu. Then take on board Stevey Y’s points about the value of the ‘All in Plan’. Take it that these insurance based schemes, are designed to make profit for the salesman and the dealership, and (please correct me if I’m wrong) is effectively a service plan. Does it include any warranty cover? If yes, work on the principle that they are capable of getting under a snake’s belly with a top hat on, to avoid paying out. Some questions that need answering Sean:- You bought the car in Nov 2025 at 25K miles and you’ve covered approx. 1K miles in a couple of months. Would 6K miles/a be a reasonable estimate of your ongoing annual mileage? How long do you intend to keep the car? Pardon the personal questions, but have you bought this with any element of finance? Can you afford to spend some hundreds of £s to get the belt and assembly changed at an independent? The answers to these questions will influence whether you can gamble on not getting it done? I think that’s enough to digest at the moment Sean. Give all this and the earlier threads a good read, and give the whole thing a good couple of coats of thinking about. You can then come back to the forum and give us some answers and an indication of which way you are leaning at that stage. Apologies for the ramble. Regards, Gareth.
  15. Hi unfortunately its one of the hazards of mass production, I bought a thermostat for my mums Fiesta it was a sealed unit they all were, but mine just happened to be the one they forgot to put the thermostat in before they sealed it. Steve.
  16. A waste of time and money.
