  1. Have you found it better to drive and with any fuel improvements? I think the 180bhp version after mine was a bit better, but mine was the older 138bhp. It wasn't terrible or anything but just didn't have the same fun factor as my old Saxo did. I'll bet! The Saxo was lowered 50mm and it cornered well! Although wasnt overly practical with speed bumps or high kerbs, forever scraping the front bumper or grinding the exhaust! Nearly grounded myself a few times! Dont judge me on the mods, I was young!   3. Hi Trevor Apologies, I checked the manual and noticed the icon I was looking at in not what i thought it was. It was the Engine Oil Temp, which according to the manual varies between 80 and 120, so it is all fine. regards krish

  4. My mate had a problem with his tailgate that sounds similar to what yours is doing. His turned out to be a fault on the left hand rear indicator holder or wire that was causing resistance and making the left tailgate sensor behave funny so kept closing then opening about 12 inches. He can't really remember as it was Audi that sorted it for him and it was a while ago. So the light fault could be related. I am talking about an electric tailgate so hope you are too

  5. Hi Sally...welcome to the Forum I know exactly what you mean. I drove a Honda Civic (new shape) the other week and I couldn't park it square for love nor money. Something to do with the shape of the car, distinguishable features to focus on such as corners of the wings, etc...I don't really know but I had a hell of a job with this particular car.   6. Hi Alison....welcome to the Forum To be on the safe side...I would take the car back to the dealers and query it with them. There have been a few instances (listed on this forum) of Audi's catching fire so I would definitely raise it with the dealer to be cautious and at least get it logged with them just in case of something happening.   10. Hello Kim, Very sorry to hear of your misfortune, and it's a distressing need for an introduction into the forum. Let's look at this from a back to basics and the cost becomes logical. Autoglass will repair and replace your car glass if it is available, but I doubt whether convertible hood rear screens comes under that heading - probably with most makes. Audi becomes the next port of call, and because it's a request for a likely slow moving part for a 7 year old model, then the price is going to be sky high. Well you told us that, but at least it makes some economic sense, so you now have to look for economic alternatives. Impossible to fit a new rear screen into your existing hood? I seriously doubt it's impossible. Useful contacts would be classic car trimmers - they are used to making bespoke hoods and should be not be frightened off by this. Google searches should give you some contacts, but try approaching local classic car clubs for all important recommendations. We have the old established Jack Smiths down here at Swansea and you should be able to get his number (and recommendations) via. Lotus (I think it is ) forums. If you fail let me know. I know it's a long way from Surrey, but you could have a free weekend in Mumbles on what these boys charge in relation to others! They are seriously cheap in comparison, and I believe they also do work for insurance companies. Other alternatives will of course include scrap yards who may just have a rear screen from a salvaged one with normally vandalised roof fabric. You could do searches via. Partfinder - I think it is, but there will be others. This misfortune could work in your favour if they do write it off and you buy the salvage, but be aware that the car's subsequent value will be less and of course, bang goes your NCB despite it being of no fault of yours.   11. Hi Alan i own a a3 2013 just had a polen filter replacement at the dealership and ive noticted they've empty my glove box to change it. plus there was some small leeves in there so it might worth a look in there

  12. Hey everyone, Just thought I'd let you know how i got on. I finally managed to test drive the Audi A3 sportback in sport spec- and as much as I LOVED the test drive and the way the car handle it didn't feel much better than the golf. And the monthly figure they were asking for was WAY more than the golf and to top it off I was pretty much taking off all the little extras I wanted on the car to get the price down. So I've decided I'm gonna stick with the golf- for me personally the difference between the two cars wasn't a big enough gap to justify the extra cost. Who knows it maybe my next car in a few yrs. thanks for all your help though

  15. dont get a code reader. get a cable off ebay that comes with vag-com or vcds or whatever it is called these days. it'll only be the trial version as the full version is expensive but will be much better than any generic reader. that reminds me, need to get mine ordered

  17. I'm trying to look at this from Darren and Clifford's points of view, and I have no doubt at all that pumping Mr. Muscle into the vanes of the turbo will indeed clean them. After all, this is a caustic type cleaner which will most certainly take the skin off your hands! -as well as the burnt grease from your oven, so it should take soot off the turbo vanes without any doubt. Now back to Clifford's point that he would not encourage its use, is based on good argument, since this going to get into your engine, and under extreme pressure. Most of the components of the engine through which air passes and gets combusted when it mixes with fuel are constructed of aluminium, and probably (don't have a Mr. Muscle to hand) Mr. Muscle would state it should not be used on such material. I can indeed imaging the pleasure in watching all that soot coming out of the exhaust following this, but then the realisation that this fluid has passed through every combustion component and found its way out through the catalytic converter for an encor. Pleasure? - or blinking heck? Probanly, the answer is to remove the turbo and clean the vanes and refit, but of course this entails far more work, and is far less of a quickie fix. Sounds like a very friendly garage :) as I said a while back I had this issue and it was a Turbo issue so was better to replace with an OEM turbo glad it's working out for you, keep us update :) P.S No you're not breaking any rules, you're more helping out our community in finding a good garage :) Regards Bradley

  19. Right, update on my problem. Basically went to the audi garage and he told me that its probably sticky turbo vanes. He said there is no point in him doing a diagnostic and changing me £45 +vat when it will not tell him its a turbo problem. Very friendly garage, great guys and didn't charge me any money for 20 mins of his time. He said he is willing to fit a turbo for me for the cost of £270 labour, and I can supply my own turbo which will save me a good £500. So I need to save and sort out the turbo or try the Mr Muscle trick. Hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by pointing you all in the direction of this friendly non rip off garage. Hello Alan, Sorry, but I cannot really help you with the later 2013 A3, but with the earlier one, it is certainly above the passenger footwell (below the glove box) but it does hide itself very well! Might be worth having another look, since the black plastic cover (on the earlier model) simple sides in/out and is easily missed. Not sure if this helps. Kind regards, Gareth.
