  1. Hmmm that's difficult to work out what that is from the photo... I take you can't see anything else that it looks like it should attach to?
  2. Is the fuse layout not printed on the inside of the box cover as is the case with many Audis?
  3. Hi Barry welcome to the club :) A couple of things to watch out for would be excessive oil consumption (can be a common fault) and also the EGR valve can cause quite a few diesel related issues if this gets dirty. Manual transmission is a fairly safe bet but if you go auto try and avoid the multi tronic box as this can be problematic and expensive to replace/fix. Have you found any potential purchases yet?
  4. Fair enough, also found this while digging around.... It's VW but may also apply to some Audi vehicles. May be worth mentioning I guess! Subject: Warranty Extension for Certain 2007 – 2010 Model Year Volkswagen Vehicles Equipped with a DSG Transmission NEW POLICY Volkswagen has extended the warranty that covers the DSG gearbox transmission in certain 2007 – 2010 model year Volkswagen vehicles to ten (10) years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's original in-service date. The vehicle's original in-service date is defined as the date the vehicle was delivered to either the original purchaser or the original lessee; or if the vehicle was first placed in service as a "demonstrator" or "company" car, on the date such vehicle was first placed in service. AFFECTED VEHICLES This warranty extension covers the following model year 2007 – 2010 Volkswagen vehicles equipped with a DSG transmission AND with a production date from February 19, 2007 through August 6, 2009: Eos, GTI, R32, Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, Passat Wagon, CC. WARRANTY EXTENSION COVERAGE This warranty extension covers only the diagnosis and repair of the DSG transmission. This warranty extension will not cover any damage or malfunctions caused by outside influence, such as damage due to an accident, vehicle misuse or neglect, or storm damage. These conditions may require repairs that are needed for proper diagnosis of the underlying condition. Any repairs that are (1) necessary for proper diagnosis of these other conditions or (2) required to bring the vehicle up to factory specifications are not covered by this warranty extension. Additionally, the DSG transmission in the vehicle must have been maintained in accordance with the maintenance requirements found in the vehicle owner’s manual. Any malfunctions of non-transmission electrical and mechanical components remain covered by the normal terms of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. This warranty extension is fully transferable to subsequent owners.
  5. There was also a recall for the gearbox software if you have the direct shift 6 speed twin clutch auto? http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/searches/expand.asp?uniqueID=7B8AF6CBA2B1ECF1802576500030A7E6&freeText=Blank&tx=VOSA
  6. Any luck with this yet Chris? I bet it's some silly small part that you would never even think of!
  7. Hi James, IIRC the door card has four torx screws to remove - 2 behind the door pull, 1 behind the wood trim and 1 at the bottom of the door in the centre. Does that seem to tally up with what you have?
  8. Hi Richard, I thought the 2009 onward grill uses tabs rather than screws to attach to the bumper?
  9. Hi Mark welcome to the club :) You should pop some pictures up when you get a minute. How do you find the A6 in comparison to the A4?
  10. I feel your pain... there's nothing worse that having a fault you want to fix but you can't find, and then having to throw money at different parts that aren't needed Let us know how you get on when it goes back.
  11. Glad you're enjoying it. Is the Q7 your first Audi?
  12. Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that can be normal. Did you keep an eye on the temperature at all and did you have the aircon/climate running? Car sounds lovely by the way you should post some photos up when you get a minute :)
  13. Yes the A4 will be a little different to her Range Rover With regards to the photos, you just need to go to "more reply options" and you have attachment options in there.
  14. In that case surely the only things controlling the ride height would be the springs and shocks.... I'd personally take it somewhere else for a second opinion. Most likely culprit would be the shock I would say.
  15. Hmmm seems strange that the Audi dealer was unable to find any error codes. A flashing glow plug light would usually leave an error code... I did read somewhere else about a guy with a similar issue and it turned out to be a garage had filled his oil level significantly too high and it was causing oil to get into the manifold and putting the car into limp mode. I also know that the actuator and boost pressure sensor can be common faults on your model that could cause similar symptoms.
  16. Hi Ian, Sorry for the delay in replying. I've just taken a look at the photos in that thread and read through it. Looks like you've finally had some luck after contacting Andre Konsbruck.... what a result! It's always worth being persistent! I can't see how they can claim there was an impact without it leaving a mark though.... Are you going to be using a different Audi dealer from now on?
  17. Hi Kev, welcome to the club :) How are you finding the Q7? What car did you come from?
  18. Does the light flash or is it a solid light?
  19. Hi Ron, welcome to the club :) Unfortunately I don't think there is a way to adjust the pronunciation of the sat nav system, aside from making sure you keep it updated in terms of maps and firmware in the hope that something changes. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's the case. To be honest there is probably not a lot the dealer can do either as they will be reliant on Audi themselves for the software updates. I would be inclined to offer your feedback directly to Audi customer relations and see what they say. They may be able to get someone technical to confirm if there is a fix or software update available now or in the future.
  20. Welcome to the club Matt :) The 3.0 Tdi is a lovely motor with plenty of torque. Post some photos up when you get it back, would love to see it.
  21. Matt, if you visit a company that does custom exhaust fabrication, they would be able to chop your current tips off and weld on anything you like. This would be the best solution and may cost less than you might think. The tips that simply slide over the top are never very good quality and don't last.
  22. Paul, it's fairly well known the many car manufacturer's built in offerings are often not as user friendly as cheap after market systems. Sadly it's been that way for years although it does appear that some are slowly managing to catch up particularly by partnering with technology companies like Apple and Google with Carplay and Android Auto. The expensive updates are also part of this unfortunately. Normally I wouldn't suggest updating every year unless you use it heavily as the cost will outweigh the small benefit. Normally every 2 - 3 years would be fine and you will get much more in the way of changes. Aside from what you have pointed out, it shouldn't be that difficult to input a new destination? With the drawbacks you have pointed out, it's easy to see why people still opt to use a standalone TomTom or Garmin etc but many people including myself still prefer the benefits of using the built in display rather than having something mounted on the dash/windscreen, plus it integrates with the audio system for spoken instructions which is quite nice.
  23. Hi James, welcome! Nice looking A3, I must say I'm a fan of the black wheels against the red. The S8 sounds like a nice old beast too! What stereo system does the car currently have fitted? Audi Symphony? I think it's just a case of keeping an eye on eBay to spot a good deal on the navigation unit to be honest - one will come up eventually!
  24. Could be DFP regeneration? This can sometime have a strong smell to it but is perfectly normal.
  25. Have you tried with fuel tank full/empty to see if that make a difference? Do you have just standard springs/shocks (no air suspension/self levelling etc)?
