    Injector

Hi did the mechanic code the refurbished injector in when fitted, as when they refurbish them they need recoding to balance them with the old injectors. Steve.
  2. Hi it all depends on which version of VCDS is installed if its old or cloned it won't do keys. Steve
  3. Hi probably an earth fault or a blown fuse/relay. Steve
  4. Hi Trade Parts Services as they are known have branches all over the U.K. and only deal in VAG parts, the only thing I know for certain is that 90% of aftermarket DPFs are actually smaller internally and have Cordierite cores which tend to block quicker than the O.E. DPFs as they are fitted with a Silicon Carbide core which has a higher melting point when blocked, the main cause of DPF failure is a bad EGR valve which will not always throw a code and leaks exhaust gas into the system when not required which poisons the Cat and blocks the DPF, therefore before you hurtle off to buy a new unit replace the EGR and get your original DPF sonically cleaned believe me it works there is a place near me that does it and most cabs on our circuit are obliged to make the pilgrimage and at £150 its cheaper than a new O.E. from the dealer. Steve.
  5. Hi Steve from what I can glean from the post it looks like he has retro fitted adaptive lights but his BCM is for the as built lighting which won't accommodate the new lights therefore the new BCM will need coding as well. Steve.
  6. Hi all the filters are supplied by Bosch,Mann,Hengst, Blueprint are a good shout I use them on my A6 and never had one go wonky yet, car producers source their O.E. parts from a multitude of suppliers who have to put their products in a badge engineered box at twice the price from the dealer and a lot less in the original makers packaging, so in the final analysis if you want to pay a lot more for a cardboard box that is your prerogative, the only part I would not buy aftermarket from Euros or anywhere else is a DPF that you would get cheaper from TPS. Steve.
  7. Hi easiest way is take the door card off and have a look at the part number on the speaker as there are many variables to this one as it depends on the build specification. Steve.
  8. I am totally in agreement with the elimination process but the only real way to do it is check everything supplying the starter system including the pedal switch that initiates the starter, they are prone to failure and don't always flag up on a scan. Steve.
  9. Hi Karl this is a bit of a mystery, if the car starts ok from cold it would as you suggest be a heat related problem as I don't think its starter related its more like a sensor breaking down which in theory should flag a code, have you had the battery checked for charging or battery condition. Steve.
  10. Hi magnetic ride is old technology therefore multiple aftermarket companies now build the units judging by the price I am assuming its a rear shock. Steve.
  11. Hi Karl best get it plugged in before condemning the starter.
  12. Hi chances are you have a bad battery if its the original its probably going to be extinct, easy test is connect a donor battery to the jumper posts clear all redundant codes and try and start it, if it will not start re scan and look for fresh codes and it all depends on what diagnostic platform you are using it should show can communication errors where you have unplugged things. Steve.
  13. Hi the strips are Anti rattle sound proofing and stop the sqab from bouncing up and down and making a noise, can't see any wet from the picture on the metal but you can on the strips, just wondering what that interesting hole is just above the pump cover. Steve.
  14. Hi I am really pleased you have a result, but more to the point THANK YOU for the feed back, one of the hardest things to do is autodiagnosis from description and you have been nothing less than forthcoming with information so therefore a pleasure to help, I would never recommend anything I have not used or seen used as that will lead to extra expense which I did when I was a lot younger, so I am well aware of the feelings of loss financially and disappointment that it hasn't worked. You would be amazed at the amount of people that post and get everybody at it, they get a possible solution and disappear into cyberspace so all contributors, Steve,Gareth,Clifford and myself never know the outcome which is most frustrating, because you wanted to help yourself you are now armed with the right tool for the job you have my upmost respect and I look forward to your settings tutorial as the name of the game on here is to starve the dealers of potential victims. Regards Steve.
  15. Hi check your screen menu it should have TPMS reset facility on it, from memory the good old E.U made the system compulsory in about 2010. Steve.
  16. Hi lift the seat out and run the car with some kitchen towel around the cap and that should tell you if its a small perforation in one of the connector pipes spraying vapour into the car, TBH its the only place it can come from to get on the seat, I feel for you as having a diesel smell in the car is awful. Steve.
  17. Hi if you lift out the rear seat squab I think you will find its coming from the lift pump cap under the seat, probably the seal has gone on the locking ring under the cap. Steve.
  18. Hi I do love that term master mechanic most of the time it means they were the best of a bad bunch, my daughters Q3 had full Audi service history and the telephone number bills with it, guess what when I dragged the filters out of it the air filter had the date the car was built stamped on it and the oil and fuel filter were indescribable, I wish you could talk to the garage owner I use he has removed loads of air filters and pollen filters from Audis that have the year of build written on them the crying shame is the cars are now 3-4 years old, the owners have a print out with whats been changed but in reality it has not they just tell people what they want to hear, BMW are the same the only dealer service history I would trust is Mercedes as from the couple I have worked on the o.e. part dates tally up, the Millers is a good product does what it says on the bottle. Steve.
  19. Hi funny that I had that problem with my mates 2017 Merc we got the oil grade info and bought it off of eBay it transpired that the stuff they wanted £30 a litre for was the exact same Fuchs Titan that we bought for £70 for seven litres, I wish you luck. Steve.
  20. Hi most diesel failures you mention are normally caused by a lack of regular maintenance, timing chain tensioners are caused by late or non existent oil services, blocked heaters through lack of good antifreeze and changes which stop the Block/core from corroding, cheap fuel, supermarket normally this does not have enough lubricity agent in it so it runs the pump and injectors, if you have any worries about the chain get it replaced, use a good quality fuel additive as I do my A6 according to Audi should have had the EGR/DPF replaced by now but 20k on from that time it still works fine and if I were you I would find another garage as they sound just a tad too rich. There must be loads of people with a similar or same engine who have done far more miles than yourself, what if is not a good mind set to have to live with. Steve.
  21. Any Russian translators on the forum, I would ask my sister she speaks Russian but lives in America.
  22. Hi glad you got it sorted, from the middle of desperation comes a solution, well done. Steve.
  23. Hi I would tend to go with what Audi are telling you, might be worth giving them a call just to nail it shut, £900 seems a little more than excessive for a service after all its only a couple of filters and some oil and a few hours labour, the problem is they are all trying to claw back losses from the lockdown and as most lateral thinking people know you might as well try poking smoke up a cats backside with a knitting needle with that idea. Steve.
  24. Hi not for long as the oxygen sensor if faulty makes the engine management system go into a default strategy which will make the fueling run richer this will eventually kill the catalytic converter the sensors only cost just over £100 for a good one [Bosch], by the sounds of it yours is in the early stages of failure get it diagnosed to see if its a hard fault and can't be deleted. Steve.
  25. Hi unfortunately the eBay connector looks different from the original, as asked do you only have the two wires going into the plug? in which case they should be coloured so matching one side to the other should be easy if you go the cut and shut route just make sure the key is nowhere near the car when you do it, just unlock it and leave the car for ten mins to settle before commencing work. Steve.
