  1. Hello Lynne, Audi seem to have changed their recommendations on cambelt changes, and now maintain they don’t need changing until the mileage reaches c125k ( that’s from memory) - but more importantly - without any time limit. Quite a bit has been written on here, so well worth a read before making your decision. For what it’s worth, I’m sticking with my previous regime of renewing every 5 years, even though I do low annual mileages. Low annual mileages and more frequent stops and starts place higher strains on belts. By that logic, your car is now slightly overdue for its second cambelt change. Kind regards, Gareth.
  2. Hello Charlie, Yes, the new battery has to be coded to the car. Kind regards, Gareth.
  3. Post and run! Joined April 3rd - posted plea for help on April 3rd - not returned since to review any responses. Time taken to construct replies is free of charge, but it is time consuming! Best we can hope for is the information maybe of help to others.
  4. Thanks Francis, Yes, even I understand the logic of your first paragraph. You can ask anyone for the moon, but you ain’t going to get it! Having said that, you have to survey the model ownership on this forum to evaluate how many members have the same model as you, how many of those have silver vehicles, of those how many have a spare off side wing, of those how many are silver, of those, how many of those actually want to sell you their spare silver wing?? My guesstimate would be 3/4 of next to nothing! If by chance they do, will it be free from storage marks that would render it oven-read to fit, and not requiring any paintwork rectification. Blending in paintwork to match your 30 year old vehicle? Saying it as it is:- Perhaps it doesn’t count, but I’ve been around paintwork and restorations for nye on 60 years now, so just to let you know, any paint shop worth its salt should be able to blend in and meet ‘Audi’s exacting standards’. Just let us know Francis if someone on here comes up with what you want. we are always open to help, if we can. Good luck with your quest. Kind regards, Gareth.
  5. Hello Francis, I would have thought your chance of finding a good wing for a 31 year old car - in the colour you want - is very, very slim. Why not consider an any-colour availability and get it sprayed? Yes, I know it’s going to cost more in the end, but…. Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. Hello Byron, Welcome, and thanks for joining. You could try Bosch, and I’m not sure if Febi, or their associate company - Blue Print. - do them. Personally, I would avoid Intermotor. Worth entering your reg. no. Into ‘Parts in Motion’ website, and see what they come up with. I would certainly also see what is available on EBay - choosing reputable sellers. Would you be kind enough to let us know how you get on? Kind regards, Gareth.
  7. I have to ask more questions Krishna, to make it easier for someone to now give some suggestion. Are you now saying this is an ‘engine noise’ which is evident as you rev the engine,(even sitting in the car), and is not associated with any ‘on the road noise’? Is there a steady rev. range at which this noise occurs? Kind regards, Gareth.
  8. Hello, Before the questioning and answering starts, can you please complete your profile properly. Thanks.
  9. Ok Krishna, Here we go:- What engine do you have? Manual or auto? Does this noise appear at the same rev. band in all gears, or just at the same speed irrespective of what gear it is in. Tyres matching on same axle and wearing equally across the tread? Does the noise change on different road surfaces? Does the noise change on cornering?
  10. Hello Krishna, Welcome, and thanks for joining. I my opinion, regrettably, trying to find the cause of such noises without access to the car, is an almost impossible task, and you could get no end of ‘try this, try that’ -at expense - and still not arrive at the right diagnosis. We could go through a process of asking you far more questions, but…. I think the ony sure and positive way forward is to get the car inspected and test driven at a either a trusted local independent, or local garage. Did you renew the front and rear springs in an attempt to eliminate the noise? Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. That’s very generous of you Tony. I hope they find an appreciative home. I’ve slightly altered your thread title. Kind regards, Gareth.
  12. Hello Dany from the ‘World’, could you do us a couple of kindnesses:- (1) Perhaps reword your last post, so we can better understand what your situation actually was. (2) Change your profile location from ‘World’ to some meaningful location. Many thanks.
  13. Thanks Aimee, So the stop bit of the stop/start doesn’t work? since the car doesn’t cut out when you stop? Or have I got it wrong? What I would say is that your average daily driving time may not be adequate to retain the battery at its optimum level to maintain running all the systems it needs to. Of course, you are fortunate that you just have to book the car in with your chosen dealer, and all will be sorted under warranty - well at lease should be! Perhaps you would let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.m
  14. Hello Dave, It just doesn’t compute with my logic, that you are attempting to sort out electrical issues, by simple ‘visual means’, when a basic multimeter would be the minimum requirement. Sorry to say it as it is, but you simply aren’t equipped - equipment or knowledge wise to solve this - if as you maintain that your mechanical engineering skills don’t flow over to any interest/knowledge of electrics, since they are ‘not my thing’. I think a lot of us on here have had to develop skills beyond our qualifications, or we make a decision to leave the solving process to ‘those who know’. I think this is really what you now need to do Dave - source the services of a trusted local auto electrician. Good luck and kind regards, Gareth.
  15. Hello David, This has been going on for some time, and without reading back over all the posts:- Have you checked the flexible harness section twixt tailgate and body - looking for fractured wires? Have you now got yourself a multi-meter? Kind regards, Gareth.
  16. Hello Aimee, What is your daily journey plan for your car? The issue you have is typical of a below par battery, but this would need to be accessed by your dealer, and rectified under the warranty. Perhaps you could let us have the answer to the question, and then keep us informed on what goes on from there. Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. Well Steve, someone said I could be like a good wine, and will improve with age - I don’t believe it - but I am still blessing every day where I’m still able to do what I want to do. Some things are impossible, despite what my mind tells me! Take care and kind regards, Gareth.
  18. Hello Louis, Do you know which one of the 4? is defective? If it’s one of the outer (near corner) ones, it maybe relatively easy to access. If it’s a centre one, you may find it is more difficult and possibly you will need to remove the whole bumper to be able to get at it properly. Apart from access, the potential difficulties are disconnecting the actual connector plug ( can be fiddly), and then compressing the lugs which hold the sensor in the bumper. Replacements will need to be sprayed to colour match the car. Where to buy? Check out a site ‘LLL Parts’ ( tip courtesy of Stevey Y) and you should be able to get the Audi part numbers for the correct position one. Sit down before you ask for the Audi price! Search EBay and buy an aftermarket one for a fraction of that cost. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  19. Sorry Brian, Should have realised it wasn’t main dealer due to age. Looks nice - Bristol car, with a good MOT history, and probably been with the last owner since 2018. Enjoy. Kind regards, Gareth.
  20. All sounds doable Scott, courtesy of used parts via. EBay. Good luck with the bangernomics principle. Kind regards, Gareth.
  21. Who are you getting it from Brian? Mr. Sinclair? Kind regards, Gareth.
  22. Is this information of any help to you Michael?
