  1. Where have you tried Jay?
  2. Not false information Ashiq, it’s just that the tests are carried out under ‘favourable for them’ laboratory conditions.
  3. Hello Davie, erWin? Although a main dealer part, we take it you don’t want to buy from Audi-? Regards, Gareth.
  4. Welcome Mohammad, You first have to get the alternator output check - should be around 14.5V. Then, when the battery is charged, you will need to get its efficiency checked. Please let us know how you get on. Where is Tochdale? Kind regards, Gareth.
  5. Can we take it you now have a wheel brace then?
  6. Wherever you can find room for it Mohamed. Bit pointless having a spare wheel and jack, but no wheel race to undo the wheel nuts!
  7. Hello Michael, I’ve edited out the inappropriate language bit. Regards, Gareth.
  8. Welcome Peter. To some extent, I think you have answered your own question, by saying that the car hasn’t given you any trouble over its 187K miles. This equates to not having had to spend too much on it to date, but now it’s catch up time, and it needs some funds spent on it wisely (in caps). So if you scrap it, what are you going to do for on going transport? Of it were mine, I would be search out a trusted localish Audi independent and seeking advice there. Perhaps you can come back to us with an answer to the question. Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. Compressed air at around 30psi should sort it. Kind regards, Gareth.
  10. Thanks Tim, Any particular reason why you were unable to update the forum at some point earlier? Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. Been very pleased with mine Andrew. Kind regards, Gareth.
  12. Try Nextbase.
  13. I honestly cannot see why you don’t simply take the car to a couple of local bodyshops and get sensible estimates. If I was you, I’d snap the insurer’s hand off and just retain it and sort it at your leisure. To not do so would be plain bonkers. Regards, Gareth.
  14. Welcome Mohamed, Have you carried out a search under this subject? I’m sure you will find useful information if you do. Kind regards, Gareth.
  15. Thanks Ranjit, So regrettably, now you realise that whatever figure you put in the value box, it is meaningless, and Market Value will apply. Are you considering perusing the possibility of buying the salvage and getting it repaired? Kind regards, Gareth.
  16. Welcome to the forum Ranjit. Sorry to hear of your issue and the understandable outcome. Perhaps you will allow me to offer my comments:- You don’t tell us the current mileage or anything about its service history and the fact that it hasn’t been garaged over the last 10 years. However, answers to either of these isn’t really going to affect the overall value of the car to a great extent. I would have thought that a valuation of £2,330 is erring on the side of ‘ you cannot really complain at that for a 21 year old car’. You say you have it insured for £5,000 so can you confirm that that value was agreed ( in caps) when the policy was taken out, or was that a value figure you placed on it? If the latter then that is meaningless, and ‘ Market Value’ will apply -which it does. Why not contact the insurers for a figure to retain the car and you then organise an independent repair? Perhaps you could let us have your comments on the above. Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. I would lay the cause of this at the car wash facility if this incurs any degree of power washing, and particularly if acid wheel cleaner is used - which it seldom isn’t. I you continue to get the car cleaned by jet washing it, the next problem you will encounter will be milky patches on the paintwork where the pressure washer and chemicals used, degrade the lacquer. Kind regards, Gareth.
  18. I think your expectations are too high Ravi. Translate that over to EBay,,and the Views are meaningless. Try LLL,Parts website and see if they can help. Kind regards, Gareth.
  19. Worth advertising your want in specialist ‘Modern classic’ magazines. Let us know how you get on Ian. Kind regards, Gareth.
  20. Not sure I get the Ha Ha bit! Good luck with it.
  21. Hello Saj, Sorry to say it as I see it, but from your answers I don’t feel you are currently informed enough to end up with a favourable and lasting finish. Apologies, but if your friend has a bodyshop, why don’t you just entrust this job to him, but observe what he does so that you gain some experience of the correct procedure?
  22. What grit paper are you intending to use to prepare the surface?
  23. Brands? Equally important is the actual nozzle design. If it has a simple pin hole hole rather than a slotted jet, then you are not going to get a good spray pattern out of it. You could try Simoniz - think they have a slotted nozzle. What preparation have you done?
  24. Hello Saj, Don’t expect a ‘true’ black colour from any spray can, they will always turn out to be slightly on the brown side. If you are attempting to match to a black car, you will need to get a can mixed to the colour of your car - a match to the listed colour code. As with all spraying - detailed preparation is king. Kind regards, Gareth.
  25. Can you update us please Sean?
