  1. Thanks John for posting this under a separate topic. I am the ‘an admin’ you refer to in this post, and the person (Gareth is the name) who tendered apologies to you for the lack of response to your original post. Just to keep the record straight, I didn’t mean my earlier comments to be ‘supportive’, but simply to have been an out and out apology - and a plea for Q5 members to respond. Yes, hands up, responses from (in caps) members, is generally a fraction of the responses tendered to (in caps) members, and the ‘to’ responses are usually returned responses in replies to assistance given to the original poster. What can we do about it? A good question to raise -? Or are we to accept that ‘Generally Audi drivers want help, but seldom offer their help to anyone’. Does that sum it up forum members? The Moderators always attempt to do their best, and I’m sure I’m not alone in believing we do it freely, and to the highest standard we can, and are always open to be informed ‘you could have done better’, but apathy is quite a burden to carry! Apologies once again John, and regrettably, I have to admit in my experience on one of forums you mention, it certainly does point to a far far greater member member-to-member interchange that rather occurs on here. Perhaps I shouldn’t admit that, but… I really would be interested in any ideas you have John to improve the situation on here. We are always prepared to listen. FINAL PLEA on this topic:- Q5 OWNERS - PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES WITH JOHN. ( no apologies for caps). Kind regards, Gareth.
  2. Hello Peter, I recommend you stick with the tyre pressures specified for your tyre size - as shown on the door plate. No reason to consult any other available information. Kind regards, Gareth.
  3. Welcome Richard, and many thanks for joining. Let’s hope we can tap into the progress Harry has made over the last month. Kind regards, Gareth.
  4. Thanks Dave, glad you have sorted it, by replacing the sensor. The ‘sender’ is usually within the hub casing, so it would be worthwhile renewing the hub assembly if the bearing is showing signs of wear. Kind regards, Gareth.
  5. Hello John, I would like to apologise on behalf of the forum for the lack of response to your very valid and potentially helpful-to-others question. Yes, we would have expected Q5 forum member owners would have been happy and eager to share their experience, but disappointingly not so. I don’t think that this forum is alone in respect of failure to help others, and the hard fact is that people join usually to seek help with issues they have, and having gathered that free advice, seldom stay around to help others. Regrettably, such is current human nature it seems, and I must admit, it doesn’t really fit well with my style, but it is what it is. So last appeal, and totally alien to my normal approach:- Q5 owners:- Can you sit on your backsides for 5 minutes and share your experiences with John? Excuse the lack of please on this occasion - it’s a seldom used word on here anyway. Apologies once again John. Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. Thanks Charles, and apologies for not providing any additional links for you to explore. I think your post demonstrates the need for posters to list where they have tried, to save time and effort, and suggesting duplication. Sounds rather drastic to scrap it Charles. Haven’t you come across anyone (in caps) who is breaking the same model? Kind regards, Gareth.
  7. Thanks again Nigel, but apologies for saying as it is, but it could be potentially more serious than the Haha bit, unless always driven with care.
  8. Very pleased it all worked out for you in the end Nigel, albeit with a bit of assistance from Percy Verance! Now you need to keep an eye on your ‘Chinese best’ tyres - particularly in the wet? Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. Thanks Alberto, I’m not saying it should be covered - I’m just suggesting you read the warranty document. Not really surprised it’s ambiguous , so it’s back to the dealer and Audi Customer Services, and a good exchange of debate. Kind regards, Gareth.
  10. Hello Jason, Sounds like you have an handle on Beany’s issue and no doubt we can leave it in your capable hands to sort it out for him. Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. Hello Alberto, Regrettably condensation in front and rear lenses seems to becoming almost a fact of life in recent years. Will this be covered by the warranty? The answer will lie in the wording of the warranty, so well worth having a read before raising this with the dealer and/or Audi Customer Services. Kind regards, Gareth.
  12. We would guess so Jason, ( guess being the operative word), but no doubt you will be well versed in how much ‘twist’ the belt can withstand when it has been correctly adjusted. Kind regards, Gareth.
  13. Hello Ben, Welcome to the forum, and sorry to hear of your issue. Have you searched EBay, and registered your ‘wants’ with on-line breaker systems such as Partsfinder? There are more. Kind regards, Gareth,
  14. Hello George, Sory to hear of your similar serious issue. We are unsure of the eventual outcome of this, since Natalie hasn’t returned to the forum since her last post. It might well be worth sending her a PM, in the hope she is still using the same e-mail address. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. A personal view, without detailed knowledge of the symptoms:- This has more of a direct influence on the safety of you and your passengers - beyond being an ‘irritating driver aid’. Have you booked it in to a dealership for investigation?
  15. Hello Steve, See very recent thread ‘Key re-syncing after battery change……’ Kind regards, Gareth.
  16. Hello Charles, You want to obtain one? Secondhand? Can we take it you have searched EBay, and registered your ‘want’ with on line breaker link systems such as Partsfinder? - there are more. Perhaps you can come back to us. Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. Hello Dave, As you say, unwarranted warning lights can be due to a below par battery, so well worth getting its efficiency checked. Halfords should be able to do that while you wait, and is usually free, so zero cost elimination - or confirmation that it is at fault. Again as you say, it may genuinely be due to a failing ABS sensor, and you would need diagnostics to check if that is so, and which wheel is the offender. This would be option 2 at cost. Perhaps you could let us know what the outcome is David. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. If the battery tests below par then it may be wise to let us know before committing to buy.
  18. Thanks Neil, Most of what anyone wants for vehicle can be found on EBay, inc. second hand parts. Kind regards, Gareth.
  19. Hello Neil, Not sure about any difference between the models. Have you searched EBay and registered your ‘want’ on car breaker link sites such as Partsfinder - there are more? Kind regards, Gareth.
  20. Robotic girl James? Sorry, couldn’t resist that.
  21. Have a search on here David, thing someone else has recently dealt with the same problem. Kind regards, Gareth.
  22. Thanks, but I’m not interested in them Justin. It’s just that it helps forum members to decide whether to make contact with you or not. I’ve now amended the thread title accordingly. Kind regards, Gareth.
  23. Thanks Daniel, LLL? and contact details. Kind regards, Gareth,
  24. Hello Sam, Am I correct in believing you have completely changed the title and content of your original post, while I was responding to it, so my reply becomes totally meaningless?
  25. Hello Sam, Welcome and thanks for joining. The good news is that it becomes the seller’s responsibility to correct these two faults. The inconvenience is unfortunately in your court. As you will now appreciate, in theory, warning lights can be reset so they go off (usually for a very short period of time) but they will have first shown because there was an issue with that system. Fix fault and reset light -yes. Reset light and fault is fixed - no. Let’s treat simple things first - bulb light. Have you check all lights to see which one is not illuminated? If not, you need to do so. A cunning failure is where one of the two brake light bulbs ( if two fitted) fails. Check your lights at dust or dawn so you can better judge the brilliance. EML light - this will need diagnostics to detect the component that is at fault, and you should entrust this to the seller. Way forward - inform the seller of the two faults by E-mail, and ask what they are proposing to do to resolve the issues - apart from ‘resetting’ the lights. Without rambling on further, please come back to us with the reaction, and we can advise from there. Kind regards, Gareth.
