Roof popping 2cm then nothing
Hello Frankie, I think you will be throwing good money after bad, by just assuming it’s any one of many components that could be at fault, rather than getting the root cause diagnosed. Kind regards, Gareth.

Floor mats RHD
Hello Joe, You will find numerous suppliers on EBay selling tailored mats in different quality options. Ask for samples of your chosen quality before committing. Kind regards, Gareth.

Audi A4 Cab Additional Roof Sealer
Don’t know Mario. I’ve always used Fabsil on our non-Audi sports. One tip - which I guess you will know - is to start at one side and work towards the middle, then continue from the middle to the other side to avoid a ‘tide mark’ at the stop/start position. Kind regards, Gareth.

Floor mats RHD
Hello Joe, I would have thought that it’s highly unlikely that Audi are still supplying these mats - I guess you have tried and failed -? Can we take it you have tried the numerous on-line suppliers of ‘Tailored’’ mats which should be available in various qualities - some of which in my experience are of superior quality to the genuine article? Kind regards, Gareth.

Private plate TT69LAD
Thanks, but I’m yet to meet anyone who doesn’t have a fair idea of what they want for an item they are trying to sell, so for me, if you are advertising your number plate then there are plenty of on-line sources that can point you to a valuation, to allow you to list it in an acceptable way to potential buyers and yourself. Wonder therefore, if you would come back to the forum with at least ‘ offers around £x’ please. Kind regards, Gareth.

Power Steering Issue
Many thanks James, Glad it appears to have been sorted. Did you get a good deal on the battery after? Kind regards, Gareth.

End of the road?
I’m really sorry to hear about this Steve, particularly since I know the car has sentimental connections. Bottom end knocking? Possible to remove sump with engine in situ? If so, it should be possible to slide in some new shell bearings which should buy you some more mileage, even if the crank is worn. Fostering relations with a local classic car club, may give you pointers towards contacts. It’s all a bit clutching at straws, but worth a good coat of thinking about. Good luck with whatever you decide to do Steve. Kind regards, Gareth.

Audi A3 ABS recall
Thanks Kirk, but just noticed the location - Denver- USA? If so, I don’t think we can automatically assume the recall applies in the U.K. Morally should, but…. Kind regards, Gareth.

Rear plastic window replacement
Hello Claudiu, Insurance? I would have thought that your issue of the plastic rear window breaking up is more ‘wear and tear’ rather than accidental damage, so the likelihood of the insurance covering the replacement cost may be as likely as them covering a bill to replace a rusty wing - for example. I could be wrong, but… I would still be going down the Classic car trimmer route if it were mine. Kind regards, Gareth.

Dipstick
Hello Brandon, EBay under A4 breaking is where I would start, and/or register your ‘want’ on the on-line car breaker websites - assuming the engine came with a conventional dipstick. Kind regards, Gareth.

Service intervals
Hello Tony, If you are doing relatively small annual mileages (and I guess you would have a feel for that irrespective of having to look at your filter writing), then I would also suggest to follow an annual servicing regime. Basics would be inspection and oil, air and pollen filters on year one, and inspection, oil and oil filter on alternate years. Apologies for the apparent criticism, but I don’t like your ‘writing on filter’ system ( and presumably not recording that - with receipts elsewhere) since once you change your filters, you don’t have any historical service record of what was done and when - except for the last change. Kind regards, Gareth.
-
Service intervals
Hello Tony, How many miles have you done in it since you last serviced it about 11 months ago? Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Do you do your own servicing?

A6 c7 heater blowing cold
Sorry Gavin, I give up now. Kind regards, Gareth.

A6 c7 heater blowing cold
So does that still lead you to think the heater matrix is blocked because one side works and one side doesn’t.?
-
Rear plastic window replacement
Hello Claudiu, Google ‘classic car trimmers’ around your area. You should fine all the help you need there to do a proper repair. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
-
A6 c7 heater blowing cold
Hello Gavin, Heat out of the passenger side logically suggests the heater matrix is allowing hot water through it - unless of course there are two matrixes! - which is highly doubtful. More likely to be a heater flap control issue. Kind regards, Gareth.

Mudflaps/Mudguards - Wanted
Sorry David, just thought my suggestions would set you down the road of finding out what you need to find. Chances of someone on here having a set to dispose of??
-
Mudflaps/Mudguards - Wanted
Hello David, Take it you don’t like the main dealer prices? Have you searched EBay, Ali express etc. where you will normally find copy ones? Kind regards, Gareth.

Abs sensor type problem
OK, Another possibility if eliminating the battery is not going to be considered, is the serviceability of the (usually) in-rear-hub ABS sender, rather than the sensor. Kind regards, Gareth.

Abs sensor type problem
No mention of the significance of a failing battery then Daniel-? Kind regards, Gareth.

2007 A3 1.9tdi Coolant Problem
Water pump might be suggested. Personally, I’ve never experienced a failed-to-circulate water pump without associated noise. Back to stuck thermostat?? Kind regards, Gareth.

2007 A3 1.9tdi Coolant Problem
You are very welcome Sanna. Logic points to confusion if the cap is sound, the system isn’t indeed over pressurising, there aren’t any leaks. So where is the coolant disappearing to? Overheating being a new issue:- since fitting the replacement thermostat? If so, I would be testing the new thermostat before getting into further investigations. Kind regards, Gareth.

AUDI A8 warranty advice
Same as my thoughts then Len. Please feel free to advertise either/ both sets, with details of tyre brands, tread depth and the prices you want. Kind regards, Gareth.

Wayward at 50
Thanks Robert, As far as I’m aware there aren’t any ‘drop links’ on the rear. Tyre pressures:- consult the handbook and set them to that. 34psi would be too high for our similar age 1.6 petrol, which runs on 30 front and 29 back. Tyre make and pattern the same across each axle? Kind regards, Gareth.
