Q5 Side Steps
Thanks Kevin, I guess genuine Audi prices are daft. Where else to find new ones - apart from the likes of Ali Express possibly?? Incase it helps, I’ve bought ‘Accessories’ for a non-Audi via. them (Chinese), and if they have been packaged in the main dealer packaging, I wouldn’t have known the difference - except for the price! Side step quality?? Perhaps you could let us know how you get on Kevin. Kind regards, Gareth.

Audi a6 seat belt issue
Thanks Steve, That’s interesting since our now sagging - awaiting seat base replacement A3 - doesn’t give any seat belt warning light lissue until a much heavier MOT tester sits in it once a year - at which point it does! Kind regards, Gareth.

Issues with Factory Fitted removable towing bracket
Hello Brian, Thanks for joining, and sorry to hear of your issue. Not wishing to cause more concern, but I think you are right in needing to get this professionally sorted. Audi dealer sufficiently experienced to sort it?? If it were mine, I would be searching out a local-ish tow bar fitting specialist and getting them to give this a good couple of coats of inspection, and hopefully rectify any issues. Kind regards, Gareth.

Q5 Side Steps
Secondhand Kevin? Have you had a look on Ali Express for new ones? Kind regards, Gareth.

Audi a3 saloon s-line(150bhp) - 43k mileage = £12.5k!
Thanks Miyagi, Apologies, it does seem that I’m out of touch then, even in these times when prices have indeed hiked. Kind regards, Gareth.

Alternatively - the seat pressure pad -? Kind regards, Gareth.

Audi a3 saloon s-line(150bhp) - 43k mileage = £12.5k!
Hello Miyagi, Sorry, what I mean is that I’m surprised a 9 year old A3 is valued as high as your asking price in a private sale. As I said, I certainly could be out of touch and wrong, but some on-line pricing enquiry such as Parker’s, may prove me wrong - or right. Kind regards, Gareth.

Audi a3 saloon s-line(150bhp) - 43k mileage = £12.5k!
I probably shouldn’t be commenting, but I feel my knowledge of pricing of 9 year old private-sale ( no warranty) cars is sadly lacking - it seems.

Water leaking from roofliner (no sunroof)
Hello Mark, Windscreen replaced at some time and not properly bonded? Kind regards, Gareth.

Cambelt change
Hello Geoff, Many thanks for joining. Are you looking for recommended garages on the Wirral, or do you intend to do this yourself? If you are looking for garage recommendations, then any trusted local garage should be able to carryout this work. This may be disagreed with, but If you intend to have the water pump changed at the same time ( good policy) then my experience points me towards the merit of paying a bit extra for a pump bought from VAG. Perhaps you can come back to us. Kind regards, Gareth.

Cd player inactive fault
Thanks Mark. ‘Anyone else had this issue?’ If you know something has been stuck into yours, then it’s fair to say that’s what is wrong with it -? Kind regards, Gareth.

Slow start
Thanks Ark, but still not following that logic, but it really doesn’t matter since you have now sorted the issue, and that’s the most important thing.
-
Slow start
Thanks Ark, but still none the wiser with the different terminologies on the opposite side of the globe. It’s surprising how much we don’t know! Great to hear you solved your problem by adding the extra earthing strap, but apologies but I must admit I’m not following the logic of the (contact?) resistance increasing with temperature, but…. Kind regards, Gareth.

Audi quattro a6 1993 4k mileage, valuation
Hello Michael, Any 30 year old car which has only covered a genuine and verifiable 4,000 miles from new will certainly have a high interest ‘value’ irrespective of the make or model, and an A6 Quattro example will certainly enhance that appeal. Having said that, the way in which it’s been stored over those years, will obviously influence its condition and value. I would say it would be impossible to sensibly value the car, and the only meaningful way to find its true value would be to enter it into the hands of a respected classic car auctioneer. Even then, the bids will be variable dependent on the sale/sales. I recall entering my 9K from new Morris 1000 into a classic car auction decades ago, and the auctioneer’s quote was ‘ it will sell for whatever someone will write a cheque out for on the day, and that will be different to what someone will write out tomorrow’. Not very helpful, but true.! Summary:- Get the car presented to best effect, and enter it into a classic car auction in Germany. Perhaps you can let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.

Airbag light
Hello Shak, Did you move the seat when you took the glovebox out by any chance? If so, it worth trying what has been suggested in a more recent post ‘SOS fault’. Kind regards, Gareth.

SOS fault
SRS Papa Zeus? If so, it alway worth trying spraying some contact cleaner on the under- seats connectors , but no not (in caps) disconnect any of them. Just spray and wiggle slightly. Kind regards, Gareth.

Thanks Mick from the Homeland. 2 hours to receive any help is a bit short notice, but don’t give up hope. Kind regards, Gareth.

Replacement Gearbox for 2004 Automatic A6 Allroad 5 HP 19
Hello David, I’m not sure if this is going to help, but here in the U.K. we have on line search facilities that allow you to list what you want, and this gets circulated to all registered car breakers. Same on the Continent, which might supply over to Mallorca? Kind regards, Gareth.

Audi S1 2015 - 62K Miles - £14,500
Thanks Rory, I’ve amended the title for you to include the now reduced price. Pardon my comment, and I could be well off the mark here, but would I be right in thinking the car is priced at (possibly over??) what it might be on a dealer’s forecourt? I temper that comment with the fact that it certainly appears attractive, and I’m sure anyone interested would shoot my impression down in flames. Kind regards, Gareth.

Problems with new GT
Hello Chris, I really feel for your plight, and although this is unlikely to be any consolation to you, I think you may be better placed to get some resolution in the States than we are in the U.K. Personally, I cannot suggest any other avenues other than those you are already following. Kind regards, Gareth.

What Engine Oil
Hello Chris, I think it’s 5w 30 to a VAG spec. than I cannot recall without looking it up, but your handbook should list exactly what you need. Since it’s only 1ltr you need you just as well get it from Audi at about £3 more than factors. Obviously not the most economic route, but at least you will have peace of mind that it’s correct. Kind regards, Gareth.

Clutch pedal dropped
Hello Jody, I take it it’s your local garage who want £900 to replace the master cylinder -? I could be way out on this, but this symptom is often associated with the slave/release bearing assembly. I would think a second opinion would be worthwhile before committing to any repair. Kind regards, Gareth.
