Audi 80 Cab 1.8 Hose Replacement
Hello Dave, I did suggest you find hoses of the same bore and similar bends - as what Autodoc supply - and simply ‘cut and shut’ them to make up the total length. Have you investigated that route?

What Battery size?
Hello Kevin, Replacing a battery with what is currently fitted, is not always the best thing to do, since someone before you might simply have fitted anything which might just have fitted . You shouldn’t go far wrong by placing yourself in the hands of Tayna, or Parts in Motion - inputting your reg. no. on their (EBay ) sites, following the recommendation but always checking dimensions before committing. I have used their Exide brand to good effect of late. Please come back to us if still in any doubt. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. You mention 906 - do you mean 096?

Drivers door mirror not opening on start up on 2018 Q5
Thanks Cliff - very enlightening. Mark - silicone spray. The bodyshop’s enemy. I would keep it well away from any paintwork, otherwise ‘fish eyes’ paint problems are inevitable.

3rd Party Service & Maintenance Plan advice
Thanks Clint, So you are looking for mechanical warranty policy and not strictly a maintenance plan -? If so, you will find most ( if not all) are based on cover for non wear and tare components, which equates in a large part to a fair degree of ‘limitation of cover’. If this is what you are after, then the all important thing is to obtain copy and read the small print before committing. Perhaps someone else on here can offer a recommendation for you. With c10k /a I would be tempted to opt for getting it serviced every year at a trusted local garage. Kind regards, Gareth.

3rd Party Service & Maintenance Plan advice
Hello Clint, Apologies in advance for requesting additional information before comment:- What will be your anticipated annual mileage? Why do you want to lock yourself into a service plan, as opposed to investigating suitable trusted local garages to look after it as necessary? Kind regards, Gareth.

Auto start stop issue
Thanks Graham, but I don’t think it’s an activator. Believed to be a de-activator, which is used to deactivate an active Stop/start , every time the car is reused.

A4 cambelt change - latest recommendation on interval ?
Welcome Glyn and thanks for joining. There have been quite a number of posts on this subject over the last couple of years. As you will realise once you have read them, VAG have changed their recommendation on belt change intervals and removed the ‘………or every 5 years, whichever comes first’. This leaves the owner to decide whether they now follow VAG’s current advice of no time limit, and run the risk of catastrophic ( economical write off potential) failure, or spend and buy into peace of mind and get the belt assembly changed every 5 years. Please bear in mind that low annual mileages usually result in additional stress on belts, due to the number of stop/starts and gear/rev changes. In effect David, the decision will ultimately rest with you. Kind regards, Gareth.
