Which A4 do I have and do I have a broken thermostat?
Welcome Chris and thanks for joining. Yes, does sound like a faulty thermostat, by what you describe, so well worth renewing it. I usually get my parts from Parts in Motion based in Exeter. Competitive prices and always good service. You can either go direct to their site, or have a look on their listings on EBay. Buy a reliable brand such as Febi or Bosch. Let us know how you get on Chris. Kind regards, Gareth.

Subframe corrosion
Hello Chris, Have a look at IM Axles website in case they do new ones - probably not, but worth a try. We had one last year for a Ford KA. Gauge and quality was better than the original. Kind regards, Gareth.

Mysterious Coolant Leak
Why are you resorting to a coolant flush Joel? The reservoir cap is just a reservoir cap - unscrew it, and screw the new one on. If the coolant temperature gauge is getting to 90 within about 3 miles, and more importantly, holding at that throughout a longish journey, then I wouldn’t expect the thermostat to be at fault - unless Stevey Y is of different opinion. Kind regards, Gareth.

Q5 engine out rough cost
Good morning and welcome Brian, Sorry to hear of your issue. It seems - quite fairly - that your trusted local garage is not best equipped to sort out this issue, and may even be suggesting work beyond requirement, obviously not to get you to spend money with them, since they have told you they ideally don’t want to try to sort it. If it were mine:- I would be doing a search for a localish trusted independent VAG specialist and seeking advice on what needs doing ( and not asking how much it will cost to remove the engine). I would want to be talking with the principal there, and outlining the initial issue, and what has been done so far, and see what their recommendation is from here. Obviously you will have studied their reviews before engaging with them, and taking advice from local VAG owners if possible. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on Brian. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. I was going to suggest placing another post asking for recommendation for independents in your area, but you state your location as a vague U.K., so difficult. Worth posting however, and specifying your area.

Audi s1 outer cv joints
Thanks Kevin, It would be worth reading the Moderator’s and Administrators’ post regarding responding to - and acknowledging the help given - on this forum. I thought my post on Friday, may have encouraged you to acknowledge the response posts, but it didn’t, and sorry but being subtle doesn’t seem to work. We trust you now get the point, and apologies for pointing that out to you. Sorry we now have to spell it out, but….. Kind regards, Gareth.

Adrian Flux - Christmas 2024 Opening Hours
Thanks Dan, So are you confirming you can indeed offer guaranteed Agreed Value cover- in the event of a total loss (as opposed to so called Market value) - for any car over one year old, and this cover can be obtained irrespective of the fact that that vehicle is the policy holder’s sole means of transport, and there will not be any mileage restrictions on the use of that vehicle? Kind regards, Gareth.

Hello Joel, Does the coolant temperature reach 90 within a couple to 3 miles, and always hold at that through the rest of the (longish) journey? Kind regards, Gareth.

A3 1.6 diesel all warning lights on
Strange, owners normally ask for/ are given a print out of the results. Make and age of battery as a matter of interest? If the battery is genuinely up to specification, then it’s possible the the instrument cluster is at fault. Kind regards, Gareth.

You may also like to eliminate the simple things first, and replace the reservoir cap with a good quality new one. Kind regards, Gareth.

What were the actual % efficiency and CCA value on Halford’s test Tim?
-
A3 1.6 diesel all warning lights on
Welcome Tim. First thing to eliminate is the battery. Suggest getting its efficiency check - Halfords stores will do that. If it tests substandard then please refer back to us before committing to buy - if you have any respect for your wallet. Kind regards, Gareth.

08 audi a3 new owner & new to forum
Welcome David, Well worth looking up Parts in Motion website for parts. For suspension parts in particular, I would go with Febi brand. I don’t have any connection with P in M, except I buy most of my parts from them (mail order) and their service and prices have been great. They also sell on EBay - sometimes cheaper than their website. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on with your pricing. Kind regards, Gareth.
