Hi, Anyone familiar with this metallic ticking noise? Sounds like loose chain, but it is 2.0 TDI on Audi A3 8V. Could it be sign of oil pump going bad? VID_20250710_140426107~3.mp4 VID_20250711_101802402~2.mp4

Hello Paul, A simple point, but the replaced bag would now be 6 months out of its 1 year warranty, so…. So is it/isn’t the offender? We cannot know because we don’t have access to the vehicle, but it’s surprising how many replacement parts aren’t of sufficient quality to survive beyond the warranty period. Some of the Range Rover models use air suspension systems, so might be well worth your while to search out and tap into experience there. Another alternative would be to seek advice from Bagpipingandy (Ebay and probably website) - obviously north of the border. This is one of the most experienced pioneering chaps on all things air suspension. Please let us know how you get on Paul. Regards, Gareth.

Non-manual choke? If so, could be the cold start/ coolant temperature sender which is at fault. This would be the sender which assesses the coolant temperature and signals the degree of fuel enrichment required. Regards, Gareth.

It did work actually, twice. Perhaps there is a delay before it shows on the forum. I have to add that I will not download anything like this from untrusted sources, though I daresay most people are happy to do so.

Hello Alan, If it were mine:- (1) Call in to your nearest main dealer’s Parts Dept. and enquire about the price and availability there. ( are there any electrical connectors very near/within this T piece? by the way?). (2) If they won’t give you the part number - which is quite likely - have a look on LLL Parts website, and you may find it there. (3) Thoroughly search EBay and EBay International to see if you can find one on there. (4) Register your ‘want’ with on-line car breaker link sites. Partsfinder is one of many. Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.

As a quick update (which may or may not help others!) I ended up cancelling with Audi and reinsuring with them to kick this out another year within their expiry dates (which means I can hopefully also sort issues with my NCD out too!). Adrian Flux were well over £2k, eSure and Audi v similar around £1500. Interestingly the front end for UKI is Churchill and Directline, neither of which will underwrite performance cars!

I’ve got a 2014 Q7 and same happened to me last year in the Lake District, at 10pm on a Sunday night. Problem is, the pulley shouldn’t be rusting away like that, it a low quality part that Audi could easily have put right. My pulley was £350, from a local car parts place, VW were asking £550 at the time (parts - not fitted). If people can get them for £96 from ECP I’d recommend doing it as preventive maintenance as you can’t really drive without it. Shame really - I’d expect parts like that to fail on a Citroen C1 but not a Q7!

Could be a relay, also check continuity of the wiring if you can trace back.

Yes up to the max level then drops down past min but I tend to top it up before the warning light appears.

That the air flow reduces suggests an electronic problem. Best to get the system diagnosed.

Parasitic loss is a bit vague. How many amps are being drained from the battery? The handbrake switch under the brake lever may be what you are hearing. It would be worth looking at its condition.

Thank you

It certainly is! No matter how old the cars get the bills and parts remain expensive

Electronic oil level sensors have reputation for unreliability, so it's likely you need to fit a new one. In the meantime refer to the physical dip stick if you have one.

I have had multiple issues with this Avant. I have Emmisions light/MIL in orange and can hear water sloshing/running behind the dash audi Multimedia centre. Strange noise whining when driving worse as you go faster.... Symptoms of temp gauge on car reads 90°, temp on my OBDII scanner states its 100° fans are working, coolant has been changed m, burped etc, no external leaks, no evidence of coolant going down. It's now been to 4 garages..paid for Disagnostics x4, as a women...all mechanics saying different things, they have said its fuel, new petrol cap, x 4 new coil packs, spark plugs, oil and filter, PCV, It's had new fuel rail, new PCV separator in 2021, spark plugs 12 months ago. Serviced.. I've changed MAP, Temp new sensors..I've reset the TPS... Oil cap is sucking on when engine starts which suggests PCV again ?? I have noticed oil stains down the back of the engine from cam cover Any ideas? Water pump? Thermostat? Main oil seal...intake leak?

Hello. Thanks for looking in. So I have a 2008 A3 E 104 TDI. As mentioned, it is having a problem with intermittent throttle loss. Almost feels like it's braking or dropping gear. The odb shows no error codes, no engine warning light. It doesn't make any unusual noises. Runs great for a while, 4 miles or so, then drags. I've noticed on hills the accelerator dies altogether until released, then ok for a second, then dies again. Had it at the mechanics who replaced the butterfly valve, but it has not fixed the problem. It runs great, before it doesn't. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
