Optimus started following Audi Service plan or Independent Garage
-
Unless the service plan is through VWFS (Volkswagen financial Services) I wouldn’t bother. the T&Cs through this service plan scheme ensure any dealer network franchise coverage as well as additional leverage to resolving complaints or defects thereafter a service. having worked in the motortrade I have sold used car service plans; you often read genuine parts and this is not always the case and I have often seen inspections and oil changes being done in 20 minutes or less. The oil gets changed but the inspection in my opinion is not the same. Main dealer networks rely on high turn over of customers in and out the doors. They pay their workshop staff bonuses based on speed not quality. echoing what others have said id personally put money away and chose an independent specialist where your get main dealer experience and better value for money, in most cases.

bettsaj started following OBDeleven Key adaption
-
The remote locking has stopped working on my A4 Convertible. The spare key has never worked since I've had the car and the main key just stopped working as few weeks ago, so I thought it's likely they just need re-pairing with the car. I was tossing up between buying VCDS or OBDeleven, and plumped for ODBeleven as it's significantly cheaper out of the box. Also, I don't have a laptop currently to warrant buying VCDS, so that'll have to come later. I've tried pairing one of the keys, but keep getting the (00) Function Not Available, message. At this stage I'm trying to clear the memory of all key location (OBDeleven tells you to input the number 5 to clear key locations) It's during this that I get the message. I've checked the interweb and that error message reckons that function is not available on that module, which can't be correct, so I must be doing something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated Andy

The visual level on the dipstick is the one to rely on. The electronic level sensor sometimes goes awry and should be renewed.

Please note, the reason given for warning this poster is not ‘ Not responding to posts’ (apologies - system error) but for unacceptably disrespectful comments. Incidentally, ‘Your’ should be written as ‘you are’. There we go, you’ve learned something new today!

In no way have you assisted… an appropriate answer from decent moderators or people seeking to advise would be.. "It appears your chain has slipped a tooth and may have caused severe damage. The repair may be very pricey so I would look at if the car is worth the time and money…hope it goes well" decent answer….. your answers were a joke. Your a pair of wet flannels who’s life is sitting on a forum everyday…😂 Laters ladies 👋

You may need check the wiring and the connectors for water ingress, not easy because it's tight. You could possibly get a picture of the inside by removing the road wheel, arch liner access and disconnecting the ignitor. Or remove the unit from the car to check it. I put it on water that's got in somehow and is bridging the contacts.

Joerty27 started following Oil change
-
Hi I have just changed the oil and filter on my 2017 A3 1.5 tfsi. I fill to the required level on the dip stick took it for a run and checked it again all good. I have then got a warning light for the oil level being too high. I have removed a small amount of oil to see a change on the dip stick which is still within the limits. I ran the car for 20 miles or so and the warning light has came back on for high oil level. Is this a senior problem and is there a easy fix. Cheers

Hi G, no need to apologise, thanks for your thoughts. The prices came straight from the myAudi app so no actual salesman, but agree warranty’s do always seem to favour the dealer more than the customer. I think i will stick with the independent garage and hope for the best that nothing serious happens over the next few years. I do about 10,500 miles a year.

By your own admission Mark you are "all about learning, I’m getting into the mechanics side of things", yet you regard two experienced mechanic's opinions as dumb. Ce la vie. Given your vast knowledge I see no need to assist any more.

Bobrun started following Air conditioning problem 2013 Audi A4
-
Hi, can anyone help me with a problem I have with my air conditioning, when I start a journey my air conditioning works perfectly and for as long as the journey lasts, no matter the time or distance. As soon as I stop and then restart the engine the air conditioning blows warm, if I keep switching the air conditioning on and off it will eventually restart, sometimes quite quickly and sometimes it takes a long time, when it does come back on it works perfectly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I got my level sensors changed but I think it’s more to do with coding. If coding don't work then its definitely the ballast . Im taking it to the garage to get it checked.

Hello Ants, Apologies for the delay in responding. Personally, I don’t like warranties, particularly those sold by salesmen on a ‘only £x a month’ basis. Possibly pessimistic, but I wouldn’t enter into any contract without copy of the warranty to be able to judge the all important exclusions - of which there are likely to be many. If you are happy with those, then fine. Service plans:- if it were mine, I would just put that money away per month, and get the car serviced at a trusted independent. Main dealer service plans can result in say ‘ your brake pads and discs need renewing’ and that will cost you £x hundreds of pounds’ and you could well be tied into it. What is your anticipated annual mileage Ants? Regards, Gareth.

Mark, You are now resorting to being abusive because no one to date agrees with your views. Totally unacceptable and immature behaviour. I will just dip out of making further responses to your posts. Repeated good luck with it. Regards, Gareth.

Could this be a wiring/earthing issue? Might be worth asking an auto electrician to take a look
-
This could be caused by the battery if it's old and not operating properly. Might be worth having it checked first.

A5 2018 Thumping low speeds and turning, gearbox rattle
zyx257 replied to zyx257's topic in Audi A5 Club
Update on this - problem has finally been fixed. Turned out to be an issue with the transfer case after all. Took it to a transmission specialist who's had a few in with the same problem. It was an expensive fix. Anyway, just relieved that it's sorted, noise/thumping is gone and can finally enjoy driving it again! Thanks for all the help -
Steering wheel symbol illuminated, ESP symbol illuminated. MOT man won’t test it, I had a garage connect their diagnostic equipment - “needs coding, not something we do unfortunately”. I bought it with a faulty OSF window/door - intermittent power, I replaced a broken window regulator and a corroded a-pillar harness socket. I reconnect the battery and the warning lights appear. Any advice whatsoever very much appreciated.
