  2. Richard. Are you really referring to low coolant pressure warning? I suspect you mean low oil pressure. The 1.4 TFSI engines of that era were notorious for their skinny piston rings causing dramatic losses of oil which would explain the low compression readings and failed sniff test. The only realistic solution is installation of redesigned pistons and rings at great expense. Whether the coolant loss is related I can not say. Your first garage was right to suggest renewing belts and water pump at the same time because they would be due in 10000 miles and would need another engine strip down to install them, so it is cheaper to have the lot done at the same time. In its present condition I doubt that the car is worth more than £1000. Do you love it enough to spend several thousand pounds on it?
  3. WOM Automotive is most definitely the go-to place for anything A2. I sold mine earlier this year after 20 years, on 308,500 miles, to a fellow A2 enthusiast, as I needed an automatic. Hopefully he'll take it on for some years yet. I expect you already know the main A2 forum on www.a2oc.net lots of good info there.

  5. Sorry that’s not working either…. Very strange. Do I try and get someone to check the computer? Or should I try and check the control units on the drivers side door??

  7. quick update about my experience if anyone interested: 1) I changed cars from 2 door Corsa D to A6 C6 (both with same hp and torque. 130/300) 2) compared to Corsa its twice as long and almost 1.5x more in weight. due to the narrow streets and small parking spaces, its important to be more cautious.. (especially when reversing with no sensors lol) 3) Engine power (130hp/320 torque) is not enough for this car. acceleration is way to slow due to turbo late response, especially when fully stopped at busy roundabout. you gotta make sure that u revving the car right before you move, otherwise u risking getting hit and claimed XD *(getting 35mpg in town and about 45 on dual carriageways) *(planning doing Stage 1 to get this more responsive with less turbo lag) 4) car has bluetooth only for phone calls sadly.. any solutions??? 5) Tail light seals. unlcuky for me, LED's weren't working on my car due to water damage inside the housing. half of the hardware (where bulbs are mounted) was corroded.. I will be doing research about few things for this car but will ask for the links here anyway: 1) Bluetooth for media (mmi 3g) 2) any reliable company for safely installing stage 1? celtic tuning gives about 205hp but from what I read about them, it seems risky. I found other link from this forum which gets about 185hp and honestly I don't mind it as far as it won't blow up the engine lol 3) sport exhaust? I honestly have no idea what Im talking about here, I just want sportier sound exhaust but not loud ones.. 4) body parts? grille, side skirts? diffuser? where do you guys buy this kind of parts? Thank you
  8. So my 2013 1.4tfsi has been into 2 garages for coolant loss & random "Stop engine low pressure" light. First garage said head gasket & quoted £3,055 for the work, but they added w/pump & belt plus timing chain on a 60k engine. Second garage concurred but refused the job saying Tfsi engines were rubbish & couldn't guarantee it was head gasket alone! And fitting another engine would cost 3-5k! Third was online community who all say both are a joke, & a few mentioned the intake manifold cooler as possible reason? So sniff test done & failed, compression test & failed (none said what readings were or what cylinder(s) ) Now it's losing coolant rapidly, however there's no white smoke, oil is still clean & runs absolutely fine with no misfires. Car on a good day could fetch 5-6k due to improvements made over 4 years i've had it. Now stuck on what to do or go next? I live in Crewe & no particular VAG specialists nearby other than official garage.

  10. Well done for pursuing a resolution. Likewise, I had 3 A6 Allroads before which were superb. I would have had another one but they are no longer made/imported, so I thought the SQ5 would be a good replacement. Air suspension, Bi-Turbo (my last A6 was a Bi turbo). The SQ5 felt like a bit of a boy racer car and was quite cramped in the back compared to the A6. I was a bit miffed to find the dual twin pipe exhausts, which looked great, were actually not connected to anything, which I thought was a bit of a con. I saw an SQ8 the other day with the same issue. The ride finished me off eventually though (and my wife also!). The handling of the SQ5 was pretty outstanding though if you were not carrying passengers! I have now got an A8, which is wonderful to drive and incredibly quiet, so I am happy at the moment. Now I have to find someone who can fit a towbar on the A8, which has proven to be difficult.

  12. Hey I have a Audi A4 B8 and I want to change my steering wheel. I bought a new one online and it was suposed to work . Unfortunately It seems that the connectors are not the same and hence dont fit . From my knowledge and research the airbag code comes from a A1 . Some people told me that I just need to change the airbag not the whole wheel . Others told me i have to change both . Others told me that I might be able to rewire the harness . Could you give me some insight on this matter ? See images bellow for reference ! Please any help would be useful .
  13. I am 18 months into SQ5 ownership and was also exasperated by the poor ride, having owned 3 A6 Avants which were all brilliant (other than the notorious BSG issue on the last one - well documented elsewhere in this forum). Having played extensively with tyre pressures and seeing as I don't drive at the limit on German Autobahns, (these days anyhow!), I have found that running pressures at 35 front and 32 rear with Individual ride setting on Comfort does significantly improve ride quality without compromising handling. It also reduces road noise on the (still original) Pirelli Scorpion Verde tyres, which are wearing very slowly. I do intend to switch them to a lower noise brand when they have worn a bit more.
  14. if you can get a good set [or new ones] for that money your doing very well

  20. Hello All. Can anyone confirm whether Audi have extended the drivetrain warranty in the UK as a result of the issue with coolant leaking within the motor housing, and if so, to what level? Im aware that in the US this is now valid for up to 120K miles. Many thanks.
  21. Quick update , after jumping through a few hoops etc , its come back as being sorted under my Audi used car warranty. Total for quote £395. Replacement water reservoir tank and motor. As to why it needed a diagnostic check for a leaking tank ? obviously didn't have to pay for the check if its covered on Warranty. Booked in this Thursday , happy motoring.

  25. Very true, but if the lost oil is coming out of the exhaust, either burnt or intact, it could lead to blockages and/or emissions.
  26. Oil is cheaper than engines, or changing cars Ian! Good luck with everything. Regards, Gareth.

  28. Im on 125k miles. Ive put 20k on it in 2.5 years. More or less resigned myself to the fact its the rings but obviously im trying the cheap fix first. Im due an oil change so ill see if theres any leaks from the sump... its been bone dry the last couple ive done.
  29. Cheers Steve, Yeah I thought it was weird, I've got the extended warranty with Audi so if it is that then hopefully it'll be covered. It may well have just been a coincidence that it happened after the brake work Ryan
  30. Hi I doubt the brake change caused this it could well be the update or the camera mounted in the screen. Steve.
  31. Hi might well be with doing if the pressure slows down it may well be the valve, how many miles has the car done as around that year they are famous for burning oil where they used skinny oil control rings, problem is they let oil up but also down which pressurises the sump, fingers crossed its the aftermarket valve. Steve.
