New Member Roof Problem

Hi Everyone, I have a 2007 A4 S Line Cabriolet and tried the roof for the 1st time and all that happened was the windows dropped halfway then the front released and that was it.  I have tried a few times and only once after just waiting with finger on the button it actually worked, but only the once and I had to close it manually as it would not close after.

currently all it does is drop the windows and release the front and then nothing, it does close the front down again now using the button.

i have read about the manual reset with ignition off but if we lift the front the rear doesnt seem to lift and we do not want to force and damage anything.

can anyone recommend a garage in north Essex area /south Suffolk i can visit  ?.

thanks Lee

Hi Lee, unfortunately I can't recommend a garage in your area but I think a diagnostic check is worth carrying out. I wonder if it's the pump that's failed or if something is jammed in the mechanism.

Cheers

Steve

This happened on my 2006 A4 cab about a year ago. Turned out that the pump motor needed replaced. It's been fine ever since and the motor wasn't too expensive, just hope the pump doesn't need replaced as well!

Hi, I originally took mine to an independent I used to use but he did not have the right diagnostic kit. I went to the main dealer and they charged £520 at the end of 2016. £260 for the motor plus a couple of hours labour at mad main dealer rates. I have since found a better independent specialist that charges £45 per hour against the main dealer £120 per hour! So reckon between £400 and £500 should be about right. Not sure if it's a DIY job.
