I have a fabrication when I brake hard more from the brake than the steering, I never used to have this and I’m thinking it could have been caused by pot holes, I have had more front wheels check and rebalanced so I know they are fine it’s still happening? So not sure what it can be

Could have damaged a track rod end or ball joint in the suspension?

Thank you Simon, funny enough I had both of these replaced about 6 months ago as the rubber on the ball joints were all worn

Do you think it can still be that, what about the discs?

Kind regards

Mario

Welcome to the forum Mario, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :)

Vibration through the steering when braking sounds like warped discs in my opinion. When we're the brakes last changed?

Cheers

Hi Steve,

the disc were changed just before I bought this about 2 years ago, as I said I did not have this problem before it just started happening and the only thing I can put it down to was I went over some pot holes in the same period, can a pot hole do this?

mario

Hello Mario,

I guess for fabrication you mean vibration.

It would be useful to know if what you are referring to can be felt as a pulsing of the brake pedal, as well as a vibration, when you are braking.

We might be able to suggest some additional tests once you come back with an answer.

Kind regards,

Gareth

Hi Gareth,

Yes vibration, typo error, yes it is pulsing for a short period then goes and only happens like that when braking hard, there is vibration in brake pedal and steering wheel?

kind regards

Mario

Thanks Mario,

There are a couple of things I would be doing (as a matter of some urgency if you say this is since hitting a pothole):-

Remove the road wheels and very carefully check each tyre and wheel in great detail, looking for bulges etc. on tyres and cracking/distortion on wheel rims. You may find this easier to have done at a tyre depot, but please ensure they take this inspection very seriously.

If everything is found to  be in order then you will need to check the brake discs for distortion, and you will need to find someone with a dial gauge to do this. Perhaps a good tyre depot or a brake specialist.

If you are still failing to find the cause after this then please come back to us.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Could also be a wheel bearing, buckled wheel, under inflated tyre to add
