reecebrookes33
Hi guys, First gear will not engage in my 1.4tfsi 2009 A3 8P. All other gears work fine. Ive already tried the process of putting an alan key thru the holes under the gear boot, pulling the selector springs back etc and still no luck. have also tried clutch-less shifting to see if it was the clutch & still no luck. Any ideas ? Reece
Steve Q
Hi Reece, My first question would be to see when the gearbox oil was last changed. Also if other gears are working properly then I wonder if it's a gear linkage that's failed. Cheers Steve
reecebrookes33
Hi, After playing around with the linkage cables last night ive finally got first to engage. Going to change them as soon as possible because I believe them to be worn hence the issue. thanks anyway. Reece

Kenzo
Hi guys my name is Kenneth, my Audi A3 does not engage gear 1,3,5,7 what might be the problem? Please help
Magnet
Hello Kenneth, We take it the clutch pedal feels normal, and if so, my guess at it would be the problem is associated with the linkages, since it seems all the troublesome gears are selected by a forward movement of the gear lever. Kind regards, Gareth.
