Offside rear light cluster all lights not working!

Featured Replies

Hi there, many Audi A4 2007 2.0 TDI off side rear cluster is no longer working (all lights), all light warnings are coming up on dash and the bulbs are inactive. When I disconnect the actual unit from the loom, I see that the circuit marked  ‘1’ is burnt or corroded this appears to be a brown wire.

If I replace the connecter and clean with contact cleaner will this do the job? I can only find the connecter without The metal clips any suggestions? Also why would all the bulbs be not working if it’s just one of the connecting pins that’s damaged?

any help appreciated!!

Thanks,

Sam

Hello Sam,

Well worth peeling back the fluted rubber covering off the harness section which links main body to tailgate. Fairly common point for issue of broken/ part fractured wires due to flexing every time tailgate is opened/closed.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Cheers gents will check out the rubber bung thing! I did pull it back apart but then thought better leave it but will have another look.

re the light board, what part is that and what kind of work is involved with that?

thanks for the replies. I have landrover and I am on that forum regularly for obvious reasons, never thought I’d ever need to come to a forum about my Audi but currently at 152000 miles I don’t mind she’s been pretty good until this point.

i had this issue on the off side rear on my avant, i replaced the cluster board and it was fine looking at ur pics i can also see the plug has melted a bit. there is a guy on ebay that sells the repair kits for £70 if i remember correctly. in the kit you get a new cluster board and new plug with everything to fit and fix 😉

Mine did the same. The common item to all bulbs is the earth. I bypassed the plug and soldered direct to the bulb carrier. The other side went the same way within months. Is not a slow or expensive fix.
