A4 2.0 TDI Judder

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 2015 2.0 TDI 150 and intermittently the car judders when setting off in 1st.
This does not happen in any other gear, I can literally set off in any other gear and it will not judder at all.
I can go for a month without it doing it then randomly it will do it again.

It does it from hot or cold there is no correlation to the car being hot or not it will just do it randomly.

It doesn't do it in reverse either, i can be reversing under load and its fine.

At first I assumed it must have been the clutch however it isn't slipping when under load and I can set off from a standstill in any other gear as a test and it wont judder.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Maybe the clutch release bearing and the higher torque associated with 1st gear? Although would reverse not also be affected? Hmm..

Thanks for your replies.

It’s definitely a strange issue, it’s going into the garage next week so hopefully I will have some more info then.

Hi, Yes the car went back to the garage i bought it from and they replaced the Clutch and Flywheel and it has been fine since then.

Just had the clutch & flywheel replaced on my 2.0 Tdi Allroad after having exactly the same symptoms. £1948 later and the mechanic showed my my old kit - clutch plate was actually fine, dual mass flywheel was rocking and clunking, corresponding to the judder pulling away in 1st.
