A3 8Y - retrofit 12v socket in boot

Featured Replies

Have anybody retrofit a 12v socket in the boot of Audi A3 8Y Sportback?

The dealer wrongly informed me it was included as standard, when in fact it’s only added with the luggage pack.

The kit is available from Kufatec - https://www.kufatec.com/en/all-products/socket-12-v-cigarette-lighter-charger-for-audi-39518

I’ve got the same issue except I would like to know if the original wiring loom has the appropriate plug already in place, I’ve got a A3 sport saloon 2021

Hi Terry, if the 12v socket wasn’t installed from factory it’s very unlikely the wiring will be there - mine wasn’t.  I got Audi Upgrades to fit it in the car end - did a great job.

Ok thanks for the info, I was going to do the job myself but only if the wiring already existed.

I think the days of the same caters-for-all-extras wiring loom being fitted to all vehicles has long gone. Most likely the harness is built to only cater for the equipment listed on that specification.

I think you are wise to leave any ‘additions’ to a specialist, unless you are fully experienced with such things.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Thanks for the info, I may remove the left hand side panel in the boot and have a look see.

regards
