Hi I have Audi A3 2 litre diesel 2015 plate. Tge issue i have is the fuel e onomy is really poor. It gives 250 miles for a full tank of diesel which costs 80 pounds. There is no fault codes at all. I have recently changed the fuel temperature sensor but still poor on fuel. Does anyone else have the same problem.

Hello Adam,

Having to work out the rough maths, I work that out to be about 22mpg - is that what you worked it out at?
That’s obviously a bit daft for a diesel, whatever the overall journey conditions.

Perhaps you could fill in a bit more background:-

Has this deteriorated during your ownership, or have you recently bought it, and find the consumption is high.

Whatever Adam, I would think you will need to get the car actually assessed by a trusted local diesel specialist (rather than an ‘ordinary’ garage) since it would otherwise be difficult to  home in on the cause without inspection and testing.
Perhaps you could let us know how you get on.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

What mileage are you doing? I've town/motorway etc.

How is the car driven? I know if I drive my ford Kuga daily enthusiastically I get down to 33mpg. The cold affects the mpg too. I do think your mpg is slightly low.

I'd expect that from my A6 2.5tdi v6 round town.

Daily driving around town budd sometimes enthusiasticly but still would get 49/50 mpg and that's with a re map to roughly 200 bhp and an induction kit driving carefully I get 60 mpg all day my friend

I do think you need a diagnostic check or get a garage to take a look over it as something clearly isn't right

My 2016 gets around 46mpg average. Remapped from 150 to 190bhp. Only time I have seen a big mpg drop was on a car years ago was because a brake caliper was sticking on a bit. If nothing obvious with the engine, check the brakes are OK.

Funny thing I just realised I had a seized rear calliper,I dont know how long how long it was like it for but I'm convinced since changing it my car is better on diesel now you mentioned it

Hi sorry i just had the notification today that i had a reply.

So i only do local miles and i dont put my foot down. About 6 months ago i got my car remapped and i asked for a 50/50 map but i found out he put a stage 1 by accident. I have since put the 50/50 map on and im still getting poor consumption. I did also have a sticking caliper which ruined my pads and disks but has been rectified now.

I think when i got it remapped thats when the issue started do you think it was a dodgy map?

Possible I wouldn't have thought a remap would affect fuel economy unless you're booting everywhere as you got more torque get in the higher gears quicker save fuel stay in the higher gears even,if you feel that may be the issue I'd have the car put back standard and check it out
