Noise from Parcel Shelf when going over bumps?

Hi everyone,

I have an 18 plate Audi A5 Sportback and each time I go over bumps there's an annoying sound coming from the back of the car to the point it makes you dread driving over bumps..

I think it's the parcel shelf potentially? I don't think it's anything related to suspension as it comes from inside the car.

Has anyone experienced anything similar with the Sportback and managed to find the culprit?

Thank you,

Cristian

my old auid a4 2011 parcel shelf was not sitting right in place and making a knocking noise. so a few squirts of the smelly WD40 and massaging the mechanism on the parcel shelf for 15 minutes or so sorted itsorry i have no idea about an a5 2018 but this could be the problem...now sits in place and no knocking

Hello Christian,

Have you removed the parcel shelf to test if the noise goes away?

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hi,

No, but that's what I should've done first.

I'll do that and see if thats indeed what's causing it as reports online point either to that or a speaker coming loose.

Kind regards,

Cristian

I can say that after going every bump in sight with no parcel shelf, it is indeed the culprit.

Now, my challenge is to find exactly how to fix this as I am not sure if it's the shelf itself or the fit that's causing this issue.

please try what i suggested above

I'll give it a try.

You applied the WD40 on the plastic bits on the side of the parcel shelf?
