New owner saying hello

Recommended Posts

Hello, just joined up after having picked up my first non jap car for 23 years. It’s a 2014 SQ5 and so far I’m really impressed. No doubt I’ll need some help with things that I can’t work out but so far it’s all good.

Car going into garage I’ve used for years on Monday to get looked over,

I’ve not noticed anything wrong as yet but just for peace of mind as I don’t have much, if any faith in the supplying garage at this point.

hopefully gets a clean bill of health and I can get to enjoy it in the coming good weather

Got the car back and nothing major seems to be wrong so that’s some relief. Needs tyres, which I knew, doesn’t appear to have had a gearbox service, again I was expecting to hear and a leaky injector seal , hopefully not a major job.
and the rear window washer isn’t working, not sure if it has a separate tank as you can hear the motor running.

Thanks, I’ve had a Quick Look this morning and the jets in the base did seem pretty blocked so shoved a needle through, I’ll look later and hopefully sorted it.

The garage is getting back to me with a price on the interior and gearbox service , so should be done pretty soon.

Car broke down on me yesterday so needed to be recovered to the garage.

recovery guy said that it was saying no fuel pressure, so don’t know what’s gone wrong, didn’t notice anything wrong until it cut out joining a roundabout. Not an ideal way to spend a Monday evening.

could have been worse as I didn’t need to get anywhere and wasn’t far from home at all, only popped out because someone came round and asked for a ride in my new car.

Sorry to hear of your issue Shaun.
Can we take it the seller (if dealer) will be picking up the tab under the normal minimum warranty? Bought mid Feb.?

Of course, you would have to advise them in writing about the issue, and get their sanction to get it repaired.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

I did get a 3 month warranty when I got the car so I’ll be looking into that as soon as it’s diagnosed and I’m sure they told me I can use a garage of my choice.

I’ll let you know when I find out, be biting my nails till then.

A quick update, cars been looked at and from the checks they’ve done all points to the high pressure fuel pump.

Update, still in garage but mechanic had a week off, taken apart and parts awaiting testing, pump and injectors.
they did say they had some “sludge” in the turbo hoses ? Not had any experience with these cars before so I’m bald and chewed through all my nails.

Will do, looking forward to getting it back but I feel my ownership may not last long at this point as garage has advised me to get fixed and get gone, but that would mean I’d lose a fair bit in the short time I’ve had it, and I’d just put 4 new tires on.

Well, still not got car back yet but is in the process of getting put back together, so hopefully won’t be too much longer, been ages but I knew the garage would have to fit it in between other jobs. Worst part is that warranty company wants service history to cover repairs and when I looked through paperwork from supplying garage, you guessed it, it’s missing and I’m not having much luck getting anything from them, telling me I’d get it but nothing…… very frustrating.

when I went to Audi they had very little in the way of history on the car either, looking like a very expensive lesson in NEVER trust a garage is telling you the truth on the history of the car you’re buying, always check before you buy.

I feel for you Shaun. You have indeed learned the expensive way - treat any claim of service history made by any seller, as if not never existed, until you have sight positive that it does exist.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Thanks, should checked what paper work I’d been given, but unfortunately I didn’t, guess I’ve been lucky so far, first time I’ve been caught out, won’t happen next time.
