Hi 

DPF light been coming on quite frequently, it does regeneration ok. Few months ago engine management light came on, took into Audi specialist who said needed new turbo as probably coked up. Had new one fitted. Went back few weeks later as still had the engine smell inside, was advised needed dpf sorting. Stupid money. I then took it to my local garage who said the only thing he could find was the bolts on dpf filter were corroded and he thought was leaking slightly... He drilled out the bolts and replaced. 

Still no better, done couple thousand miles since but when ticking over it's horrible, any ideas would be appreciated.....Mark 

Have the injectors or injector seals been checked? 

I appreciate this is more for diesel smell rather than exhausts but if it's running rich then that win help. 

Has it had a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up? 

I'm assuming the exhaust system and cat has been checked?

Hi its probably the EGR valve is knackered thats what kills the turbo and will keep blocking the DPF as there is no real control over the amount of exhaust gas the unit allows in so it blocks the DPF which in turn clogs the variable vane side of the turbo, all turbo diesels work on the same principle that everything has to be working properly, if one part of that process breaks down it affects the other two.

I'm going to ask my local garage if he is able to clean the egr valve?
