Audi A4 B8 Steering Wheel retrofit

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have an Audi A4 B8 sedan with the standard 4-spoke steering wheel, which has no functions, and I'm planning to upgrade to a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel.

My first question is: Is there a serial number on the steering wheel that can confirm whether it will work on my car, or do I need to disassemble my current steering wheel and compare it socket for socket (harness) with the one I want to buy to see if they match?

Since my current steering wheel has no functions, do I need an additional harness for the upgrade? If so, I'd rather try to find a 3-spoke steering wheel without functions, as I don't want to deal with installing a new harness.

The only thing I know for sure is that I’ll need someone to do coding at the end, but before that, I want to be certain that I'm buying a steering wheel that will work.

Thanks in advance!

If it were plug-and-play, I would go for it, but I guess it's not that simple.

In the case of switching to a 3-spoke steering wheel without functions, do I still need the clock spring from that steering wheel? What should I check to ensure it can be mounted without any issues?
