How long have you had the car?

Your issue sounds like something completely different to what all experienced.

Check you dab antenna, wherever that might be on A3?

Hi Paul. Thank you for your reply. I've had the car three years but the significant thing to say is my DAB dropped, stone cold dead, in March or April this year, which seems to be when everyone else's did ?

I've made an enquiry of a well known supplier of VW/Audi audio system upgrades. Their reply was - So it very much looks as if we are all stuck with no DAB+ unless Audi come up with a hardware u

The solution is, all RMC HW H61 needs to be :- 1. Firmware updated to enable DAB+ decoding  2. H61 swapped for a DAB+ working version. The vehicles affected were sold as DAB+ ready.

On the Q3 if you press the memory tab it takes you to the memory(your stored stations) if you press memory again it takes you back to the full station list.

Sadly that doesn't work, it just singles out the top most station ! I lost DAB in March/April when everyone else did so I am sure it's the same fault. Very annoying and don't want to risk spending £160 with Main dealer only to have them fob me off like others in this thread !

I have done a reboot of the MMi, but also no joy from that.

Grrrrrrrr

Perhaps it’s worth speaking with some other A3 owners, without scrolling back through this post I believe it was only Q3 & A1’s affected as they share the same/similar head unit. Either way the problem seems to have rectified itself now, so it may be coincidence that you lost stations at the same time and may be a genuine fault with your A3?

Thanks again Matthew, I did read the entire thread, will do so again, but seem to remember there were some A6's in there possibly ?

Have a good Sunday and thanks again....

From that you it looks as if you don't have DAB on the set despite the DAB bit at the top. That suggests to me that you might well have a fault with the MMI or it isn't a DAB capable set. Have you had DAB reception in the past? There was a known software glitch in the 2016 A3 a few years ago that meant DAB just disappeared. Unfortunately it is a dealer only solution.

Anyway on the Q3 the process is to go to the Waveband option and select the waveband you want. Here mine shows DAB, FM and MW (aka AM) as available.

From this screen select the waveband you want and the update station list option is at the top of the list. I've selected DAB and as you can see the update option is there.

Thank you Richard.

I very much did have DAB for three years then it just dropped off suddenly in March or April. All of my saved DAB Radio stations still exists in my 'Memory'. The coincidence of me losing my DAB when everyone else did is too great to ignore, but perhaps it IS the DAB antenna ???? So that may be Audi Barnstaple and a large bill then !

Your help is much appreciated, thank you.

I have just downloaded via the SD drive in my car a software 'patch' created by https://www.vagcarcoding.com  This solved the software fault. DAB now fully operational.

That looks to be useful company to know about for anybody in North London, Leicester, or Lamia (Greece).

It useful for ANYONE because he sends out the relevant software to the customer, so geography is not an issue.

Interesting. How much did the company charge for your solution? Was the fix guaranteed?

It cost £65. plus £5.00 for an SD card. There was no guarantee but from the evidence in this thread and others (I was actually was led to VAG Car Coding via a thread on Audi-Sport.net) the chap at VAG Car Coding was 99% sure it was a 'patch' that was required, and he was right. I decided to take the risk of buying the 'patch' which was worth it and cheaper than local main dealer, who wouldn't have found the problem, for the quoted inspection fee of "£140 for the first two hours"
