jmull90 Posted yesterday at 01:51 AM Posted yesterday at 01:51 AM Hi folks, the mechatronic unit in my a6 is needing replaced and I’m looking for any suggestions or recommendations on garages that would be able to do this? I know about re manufacturing but don’t know how to go about it. Any help would be brilliant. Thanks
cliffcoggin Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago James. The distinction between remanufacture/rebuild/repair is almost nonexistent. They all amount to exchanging worn parts for new. I believe you have two choices. One, go to Audi and pay a large fortune for the repair. Two, find a specialist gearbox repair company and only pay a small fortune. Don't be tempted to buy a secondhand unit and least of all don't buy one from eBay. 1
Steve Q Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Any second hand one or new one will need to be coded to the car. 1

spartacus 68 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Think your best bet is to phone a few VAG transmission specialists in the central belt, agree on repair and estimate cost. Drive through and leave the car and get a train or bus back. Now unless you’re on the islands, then you could spend a few days in Glasgow and then return with car once fixed. It’s difficult to assume anything with transmissions, so only once it’s checked, can they repair or replace parts. Inverness Audi would take a kidney as part payment as you know.
