skiduk Posted Saturday at 02:11 PM Posted Saturday at 02:11 PM Hi, Just purchased my first Audi 2.0 TDI Black Edition in Daytona Grey (with Tech Pack and Comfort Sound Pack) 33k miles (picking up next week) So if anyone has some hints and tips, what to look out for and things on the entertainment system i need to look at, I'm more than welcome for pointers. Obviously, when you join a car forum all you see is a list of "How to fix" or "New issues with" as the main post's which always makes nervous reading when you have just put some hard cash down. Is there any main things i should look out for in the first month? and if anyone has a standard service cost at audi or 3rd party garage prices that would be useful to note. My wife thinks its a bit old man car, is it really?, I love the look!! Anyway i will be reading through lots of old posts to see what I have I got myself into..
Steve Q Posted Monday at 08:45 AM Posted Monday at 08:45 AM Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 馃檪聽 It's definitely not an old man car.聽 Regarding forums you'll find most of them will show the horror stories, as people don't come onto them when everything is working and good. 1 1
skiduk Posted Tuesday at 01:05 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 01:05 PM (edited) It's a shame i wish people did say whats good about the car, also when they have had good service from a garage etc. I'm in Leicester so if anyone could recommend a good garage apart from the Main dealer in Braunstone.聽 I have read that chapmans in Wigston are good, but I have never used. Are service plans pointless after a certain age or would people still recommend? Edited Tuesday at 01:08 PM by skiduk
Steve Q Posted Tuesday at 05:23 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:23 PM I'm near Leicester. I used AC motors on wanlip road in Syston. They're very good. You also have vee dub in Queniborough but I've never used them. Chapmans independent audi specialist in Wigston but again not used them.聽 1
Mickwillow Posted Wednesday at 09:05 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:05 PM Hi Skiduk I鈥檝e got the same A6 model, had it 3 years now and still love it ,聽 Ive used Derby Audi for servicing which has been under Audis All in service plan. My front brakes pad are down to 70% wear and Audi have just quoted me 拢1050 just for front discs and pads, I鈥檓 going to do them myself and have managed to get the parts for 拢350 . Rear spring mount rubber鈥檚 corroding was an聽mot advisory when the car was 4 years old, Audi quited me 拢320 each side for replacing them but did them myself rubber mount were 拢50 ,聽 Tyres 聽 Continental x4 拢860 .聽 My A6 has had 2 faults in the it鈥檚 5 years which were both rear door locks playing up and they were replaced and a brake servo restriction fault ! That was a little pressure switch near the servo that聽monitors vacuum, 聽both fault were repaired under the all in warranty . 聽I don鈥檛 think it鈥檚 been bad at all personally聽 聽Hope this helps mate 聽 聽 聽 聽 1

I鈥檝e just taken out another All in service plan out 3 months ago just to give me peace of mind really , the last plan I claimed for both rear doors locks and also a brake servo restriction fault which would have cost me over 拢1000 if the dealership was charging me so in that respect the first service plan paid for itself really聽 If urs is an auto the gearbox oil requires replacing @ 38k miles,聽 聽

Mickwillow Posted Wednesday at 09:25 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:25 PM Think the brake fluid change is every 2 years after 3 years old too聽
skiduk Posted Wednesday at 09:27 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 09:27 PM I will check through the service pack on the car and see what's coming up.
