Kandyman Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Hey everyone, picking up this in a couple of weeks Audi A1 1.4 TFSI CoD Sport Sportback STronic Euro 5 Model year: Fuel type: Mileage: 2013 (13) Petrol 23,900 Transmission: Engine size: Colour: Automatic 1.4L Blue This is a Japanese imported car, the KM to MPH and radio frequency have been sorted. The Sat Nav didn’t work, but not worried about this as it’s only for my partner to pop about in local. The car only comes with one key so I will need a spare one, it’s a keyless entry, any recommendations to either garages or members around the Dartford area and an ideas on cost. The picture below is the car I’m getting, been an import there no online passed MOT history anyone no of anyway to find this out ? I suppose once I get the car/ log book I’ll get the colour code, but wondering if anyone knows the colour. Also any recommendations for local (Dartford/Kent ) area for any handy with tools members. If you got this far thanks for reading and looking forward to learning about the A1. /cdn-cgi/image/format=auto,onerror=redirect,width=1920,height=1920,fit=scale-down/https://www.a1-forum.co.uk/attachments/img_4743-jpeg.12117/
cliffcoggin Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Another member's recent experience with a Japanese import suggests you get all the paperwork such as registration document V5 and Certificate of Conformity completely sorted out by the dealer, to avoid endless confrontations with our bureaucracy yourself. 1
Kandyman Posted May 26 Author Posted May 26 Evening Cliff, yes I’ve seen that post and I’ve requester all paperwork such as registration document V5 and Certificate of Conformity completely sorted, luckily I’ve only put a deposit down so hopefully they get the paper work sorted before the 7th which is when I said I’ll collect the car. Thanks for taking the time to reply 👌 1
Steve Q Posted May 27 Posted May 27 You need proof of emissions for DVLA tax and ULEZ. Otherwise it'll be a nightmare. 1
Kandyman Posted May 27 Author Posted May 27 (edited) Hi Steve, thanks for this, I take it this should be supplied by the seller ? Where does he gets theses from, would this information be on the V5/logbook Edited May 27 by Kandyman
Magnet Posted May 27 Posted May 27 This is beginning to sound like a real put-off Andy, but in addition to the above, you are likely to find insurance premiums will be inflated due to it being an import. When was it imported, and does the price make it an attractive buy over a U.K. car? Another potential issue :- I think ( but you would need to confirm) - that this 12 year old car was in the period where these engines had a potential problem with high oil consumption.Check this forum for more detail. Sorry Andy, but ….. Regards, Gareth. 1

If seller can't prove this than walk away as it'll be a pain in the ... For you.
Kandyman Posted May 27 Author Posted May 27 Thanks Steve, I’ve asked for the registration document V5C,and said this must show the emissions for paying car tax and ULEZ and will also need the Certificate of Conformity. will update when I hear something. thanks again 👌

Sorry Andy, but ….. Regards, Gareth. Hi Gareth, sorry missed this earlier 🥱 I’ve had a couple of quotes and it’s only a little bit dearer than the citron C3 we have now, and I have told them that it’s a jap import. I’ll have a search and see if I can find out anything about oil issues. thanks
Magnet Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Last bit :- vital that you do in my book Andy, before committing. Please do not be mislead into thinking low mileage is any assurance from potential issues, since if you consider such low mileage is usually as a result of short journey use, with numerous gear changes etc. along with stops and starts, and braking. Always worth reviewing the broader picture of pros and cons of low mileage compared with the same car covering high motorway miles at optimum operating conditions. Regards, Gareth.

Kandyman Posted Monday at 01:57 PM Author Posted Monday at 01:57 PM For anyone whose been helping, Thanks inhave just received a photo of the log book, I’ll attached a screen shot of page 2, you can see there no euro status or emissions listed, as I’m lucky enough to live in a ULEZ zone 🥱 when I put the reg in the .gov website it comes back as not required to pay the daily charge, so to me that seems OK 🤔 what are other people’s thoughts. if you need an thanks again
Kandyman Posted Monday at 04:00 PM Author Posted Monday at 04:00 PM I’m now home and now I have the V5 I was able to check for tax, where the Autotrader say is was £20 per year and when I check another 1.4 UK car it shows £20/30 per year. now when I run this one it’s says it’s £220 per year, so this is because the euro stats and emissions are missing from the V5 🥱 ive gone back to the trader and asked them to get the V5 updated with the correct details as I don’t want to be paying that each year. 1
Magnet Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Many thanks for coming back on this Andy. So I guess you are ready to take a chance on the potential oil burning issue, which could cost you well in excess of £220/a -? Regards, Gareth.
Kandyman Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago Hi Magnet, I’ve now told them I’m not going ahead with the deal, due to the V5 not been correct, hopefully I’ll get my deposit back 🤔 so I’m now on the look out for a A1 born in the UK 👌 1
