MTW Posted Friday at 07:21 PM Posted Friday at 07:21 PM Hi, I have just brought home an Audi A5 Avant, 204ps petrol version. Very nice, love the spec, but.. it feels so underpowered.. I’ve come from diesel to petrol so I understand the torque differences etc, but the specs on paper out do my 16 yo Octavia and yet, that pulls so much faster. I was wondering if anyone else has any thoughts? Part of me is wondering if Audi has dialed it down to boast a 40mpg petrol engine. Many thanks

Many thanks I mean for peace of mind you could get a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. Or alternatively get it remapped. 1

After that if it still feels wrong get it dyno tested on a rolling road and found out if the torque and BHP figures are badly out or if they're sort of in the ballpark for what Audi are claiming. 1

Good idea on the rolling road, hadn't thought of that. 1
Delberthot Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) This is a brand new car so I'd be going back to the dealer to get it checked or even ask if they will let you try their demo car to find out if it's the same as yours. It's under warranty so I'd be doing that before I started paying money to see if there was a fault. I owned a B9 A5 coupe 35 TFSI which was detuned to 150bhp and it was terrible. If I tried to accelerate quickly it would shift into neutral, rev away then eventually select a gear and go. It was just so restricted that I had to let it go. I changed to a B9 A5 coupe 40 TFSI and the difference was like night and day. Much more responsive and quicker. I now have a 2024 A4 Avant and find this again different to the A5. It's still as quick but depending on your speed you sometimes have to wait a few seconds for the turbo to spool up before it does anything, other times it will accelerate quickly right away. The energy harvesting for the mild hybrid is more what I'd expect in an EV as it will slow the car down very quickly. Edited 3 hours ago by Delberthot 1
