I feel I need to tell you all about my recent brush with both the UK Audi a2oc and the German a2 owners club.

Firstly the UK club I asked a simple question but like a bunch of mp's they skirted around the question with unrelated subjects 2 members even tried to sell me an expensive item I don't need??? When I pushed for an answer to my original question they got upset and closed my account very childish I thought 😭.

Now to the German site, Well what a completely different bunch I joined there site because I need to get the pro boost ECU (not available in the uk) within hours I got exactly what I asked for and more with offers from their members to take in my ECU and get it to pro boost then post it back to me with no financial gain (Yes I will be paying for there time)

What can I say but  Come on British what the hell are we playing at!!!!

Just replied to your other thread. Sorry to hear of your experience on the A3?2 club UK. Hope you've found us here at the audiownersclub.com more helpful.

I'm glad you've found a company that'll do it for you. Before you do though, I'd strongly advise you get a diagnostic check done on the car to make sure there's no fault codes or potential issues that could present a problem once the ECU is reinstalled.

If there's going to be a power increase included in this ECU upgrade then I'd recommend a full service too.

And advise your insurer.

Hi Yes of course, There is no power increase with this map Its purely to get rid of stratified mode and iron out other bugs   Audi stopped running there engines in strat mode in 2005. Not sure why they still put FSI on the boot??

Only problem with this mod from your other thread is tamper on the egr which is illegal. So could invalidate your insurance.

Read this from 2022. Crasher (aka Steve Cresswell) is an administrator for the Volkwagen forum and the VW Audi Forum. He's a highly experienced and skilled mechanic with over 40 years service on VAG cars, and suggests to leave the EGR and swirl flaps well alone.

The whole thing is a bit handbags at dawn in my opinion regards being removed from A2OC forum. I'm sure there's more to this than meets the eye!

My swirl flaps are the main reason I am going with pro boost A Previous owner obviously had a problem the actuator is missing and flaps are stuck in the fully open default position, The problem they suffer from is being coked up from the crap that the WONDERFUL EGR valve pumps into the engine.

Any way I am faced with best part of 1k to fix the inlet or £350 for a pro boost (I wonder which you would choose??)

Your vw man says leave them alone Why then did vw and audi stop using them in 2005 none of your fsi engines have them now. If EGR delete is illegal why then are delete kits available everywhere Dont get me wrong EGR is a good thing it just happens to be part of the pro boost map Does an engine being fed by its own exhaust run well (NO it does'nt) would you run a marathon while sucking on a c02 canister??? I Doubt that

As to the A2OC there is indeed 2 sides I may have been out of order with some of my replies,  I am a mild mannered person but in the three pages of replies to my post Not one person actually answered my question it just started to grind in the end.

I also Dont have the bottom less pockets that the A2OC members seem to have They seemed to make you feel small because I have'nt got £1500 to throw at a misfire problem for instance might be me but thats how they left me feeling.

Like I said the germans totally different

Just a note on the EGR and emissions with the pro boost fitted so EGR deleted the car passes the german mot on the emissions with no problems Now the german mot is a lot stricter than the uk  one

If it is well within the uk emissions test without a EGR valve why on earth fit one?   A well running engine without EGR is cleaner than a car with one fitted due to the running issues it causes YES????

Probably opened a can of worms debate wise SILLY ME!!

I totally agree regarding the egr, I have to mention the legality side as a matter of course as a moderator. At this moment in time the MOT only checks it's fitted not that a cheat device has been fitted to the ECU. The dvsa are talking about changing this my checking the ECU every time a car is MOT'd however, with how long the dvsa take to do anything it'll be mid 2030 by then.

I fully understand why you're looking at taking the route you are. And if it passes emissions then happy days.

The only way you'd ever come unstuck is if you had a crash and insurance company checked the ECU.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience on the a2 forum. Hope you're experience here is better.

Regarding swirlflaps I know the 3.0tdi suffered from.issues either them and owners resorted to deleting them.

It seems to me that you are determined to buy one of these gadgets whatever anybody here or elsewhere advises, so why not go ahead and fit it. Do please let us know how it works out.

Please also stop using this forum as a vehicle for your complaints about other organisations. If you want to discuss the merits of this gadget that is prefectly fine, but blatant generalisations about groups or nations is not.

Sorry if it came across that way but felt I needed to explain.

Audi had so much trouble and customer complaints in the early days it gave up with the stratified mode I did read somewhere that Audi remaped a few customers cars themselves after complaints forced their hand. The only difference I can find is Audi didn't do away with the EGR.

Pro boost did because it causes running issues to any engine that uses it plain and simple. Like I said would you like to run a marathon sucking on co2.  I've been on this earth for 60 + years have seen a lot of egr damage in that time I am all for cutting emissions ect but we all can see the damage egr valves have caused my old 3 series diesel was a prime example when I took the inlet off there was barely enough room for air to enter the engine this making it run like crap  in turn higher emissions. So I ask is a egr system any cleaner than a engine in good shape???

Hundreds of pro boosts have now been fitted mainly in Germany which from what I've read have stricter emission levels they have very few reports on test fails due to it which to me is a 👍👍👍 all round

1k to return it to factory spec with its funny running characteristics😁 Or £350 to £400 for a pro boost and inlet clean😀😀

No prizes for which I am going with.
