Sensor in front grill

Featured Replies

Had front bumper off 2013 Audi a3 sportback to install a honeycomb grill.

The sensor on the original grill, is it for airbags or pedestrian safety mode thing, and could it be fitted to a aftermarket honeycomb grill?

 Cheers

Do you have a pic of the sensor?

I don’t have 1 myself, but I’ve found one online and circled where the sensor is in red. It’s connected to two other sensors in the bumper, just wondering if for the airbags or the pedestrian safety system. Thanks

Beware with disturbing any sensor associated with impact signalling unless you want to run the risk of air bags going off.
Please take experienced professional advice before touching  this.

Yeah that's an airbag sensor, no idea how sensitive they are but if you were to change the grille over you would need to have the battery disconnected for certain before doing any unplugging. Then you would need to find away of securing the sensor to the new grille in as close to the same spot as possible and very securely.
