Really rough idle car has been sat for 3 months

Featured Replies

Hi all, totally new here. I took ownership of an Audi 3.2 V6 2005. All was going great, till a rough idle appeared. It was sat for about 3 months prior to me taking it. I’ve changed plug, coils, fuel filter and some vacuum purge filter. Still the same problem. The problem seems to persist when applying acceleration

between 1-2 post 2 revs I have no issues. Please help. I’ve posted a video to see if anyone has any ideas.

Have you drained the fuel tank and put in fresh fuel?

Is it worth getting a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up?

Could be an issue with the high pressure fuel pump

Welcome Jagdeep,

I think anyone attempting to answer this will need a clearer timeline to best ensure sound advice.

’I took ownership……. ‘ When and what mileage have you covered since?
‘…sat for about 3 months…’.
Was the car running rough at the point of collection, or has it developed this symptom since driving it?
‘….between 1 to 2 posts…’

Sorry don’t understand.

Regards,

Gareth.

Can someone explain why members join, post their plea for free advice, then can’t be ‘back sided’ to answer simple questions to aid those trying to help them?

Do we really need these inconsiderate people?

No, we don’t.

Hi Gareth,

Agreed and well said👍
