Hi I would say so, big problem being the cost of replacement its horrendous and not many garages will entertain it as its an engine out job, best thing you can do is go on YouTube to see what's involved, I personally wouldn't want it as a job.

Hi, i found today 6 garages that change the timing chain, between £2000-£2500.

Hi I am pleased you have found someone to take the the job on but as I said the price is pretty steep if you compare it with a cam belt change at around £500, what is the market value of the car ?.

Hi, the car value is between 11-13k it’s facelift one with matrix lights. I paid for it £7500 also the car has warranty under Autoguard so i will pay less than £2000-£2500 for the job.

Please keep us posted on how you get on. Be prepared to fight it with the warranty company as I'll bet they'll say it's wear and tear.

As you paid £7.5k for it makes me wonder if the seller knew the chain needed doing and knew what costs were involved.

Hello Lorenezzo,

Work on the understanding that warranty companies work on the principle of being able to get under a snake’s belly with a top hat on, and you won’t be surprised, but will allow you to get your argument set up in advance,

Regards,

Gareth.

Sure, i will post update. I buy 5 years ago an 730LD from a dealer witk 180k on clock, also with warranty and after 2 weeks the timing chain needed replacing, they replace it without any problem. Also from what i saw all over the internet the Audi A7 3.0D engines they are noises, so don’t know for sure if it’s the timing chain or something else, the previous owner told me that the crankshaft pulley is moving and need replace it, can this be a cause?
