Gearbox issues possibly

Featured Replies

Please can you help, I have a 2016 Audi A5 with 61,500 miles. It developed a knocking noise and both drive sharts were replaced (now looking at MOT the nearside Front Outer Drive shaft joint constant velocity boot split was replaced September 25) Since the drive shafts were replaced the car has developed a vibration through the seats when put into gear. It has since had engine mounts replaced, brakes ?shoes and discs. It also had the transmission oil changed but unfortunately the guy didn't do the filters !!

We still have the vibration which if you drive, it disappears ay 1500 RPM and drives well. I have had various people look at it, 50% say get rid!!

A local garage that is known for gear boxes has suggested Dual mass fly wheel and said it "should" solve the problem costing aroung £3000, but should is my problem. any suggestions or ideas greatly appreciated. I am based near Great Yarmouth.

Sally.

Very likely the DMF is failing from your description, however if you are looking for certainty in that diagnosis you will not find it here. Members reading a few lines on this page have less chance of correctly diagnosing the problem than somebody who has actually heard, felt, seen, and driven the car. On the other hand you will not be paying anybody here so we have no vested interests in pointing you in any particular direction.

Ultimately you will have to trust somebody's assessment, fork out a lot of money, and hope for the best. Please let us know the outcome.
