No ignition help! Absolutely baffled.

Featured Replies

Hi guys! I'm hopeful someone here can shed some light for me.

I'm getting desperate and running out of ideas.

Any help appreciated with strange no ignition issue.
I have a 2019 sq5 3.0 TFSI. Purchased from salvage, after Jump start I cannot get any ignition in the car.

I can only scan from module 9, steering column module has no 12v.

Tailgate working
Hazard lights working
Electric seats working
Lights front and rear working
Door puddle lights working
Buzz noise when start stop pressed or door open
The P in the shifter lights up

But absolutely nothing else

No digital dash, no mmi, no ignition, no windows, handbrake can go on, but not off.

Any guidance would be great.

Replaced steering authorisation module, no change

So far checked fuses and relays, checked modules for water ingress.
Checked fuses box in rear, UK passenger footwell, UK passenger dash, and the little relay box middle of engine bay scuttle panel.

Really struggling with what else it could be

Thanks in advance. Ryan

Suspect some sort of pyro fuse. It’s usually a safety related thing to cut power to the starter and fuel pump in the event of a collision if airbags have been deployed. Use VCDS and multimeter once that’s been replaced, as you may have other things given this is a crash damaged car.

I have actually tested pyro for continuity and it has it.

I'm currently in the process of digging out my old vcds to scan, hopefully this may help further.

I also have a spare bcm1 incase this could resolve.

When I removed.bcm2 I lose everything. When I disconnect bcm1 every stays as it is, so as kind of a process of discrimination I bought one to rule it out ... Or.ideally fix

I seen something similar when a bcm wasn't coded right to my car(think it wasn't recognising the key so wouldn't let anything power up).. literally couldn't take the handbrake off, no ignition ect. Left it with a guy that re coded it again properly then everything worked.

Thanks phantom.

So mine actually turned out to be a hidden after market immobiliser, however. Since removing I still have no ignition. And randomly component protection on bcm1 and 2 so the issue may be similar to yours.

Did the guy use odis to code?

Tbh I don't know what way he did it...he does ECU flashing an all.

He said there was component protection at fault and other coding had to be done to match the key, dash, bcm ect

I thought I'd wrecked the car (water was my original problem) but he sorted it ...but cost me a good few quid lol

Hi Ryan, I don’t have a clue BUT, I know someone who might!

Lukas at Autotek in Clevedon, he’s an Audi specialist, runs an old RS himself.

I’m sure he could help but you might have to get the car to him.

Look them up but Their tel no is:
