Best brake prices May 2026?

Featured Replies

Prices are extremely varied place to place and I wondered if you guys have a go to place for good quality discs and pads?

I never buy on price alone, particularly with brake parts, so I’m not really qualified to guide you on best prices alone.

I’m currently ‘experimenting’ with Brembo (to good avail so far) but I’m not claiming they are top of the shop.

I buy the bulk of my parts from Parts in Motion - as I’ve said so many times. They have always provided me with a first class service at competitive prices.

Please let us know how you get on Mark.

Regards,

Gareth.

Thank you, I didn’t say price alone, I said good quality for good prices. You can get top quality (exactly the same brand and model) with hundreds of pounds difference depending where you go.

I’ve no idea how they justify it, but I’ll add parts in motion to my research thank you.

Genuine parts can be found for reasonable prices on the Bay of E.

Fit them yourself or take them to a friendly Indy that fits customer supplied parts.

I’ll be trying out Febi rear brakes when I change the rears next time. Not sure I would use them on the front.

Otherwise TRW pads for the rear are oem. GDB2131.

I’ve found that you need to scrape off the accumulated rust on the other of the front discs to get any mileage out of them, especially on the rear face. Just do it in situ.

Is this to resolve the squealing issue?

Yeah, it’s the front and the Audi garage said it has because the garage I bought them from added low quality pads. I don’t want to put new pads on slightly lipped discs so am looking to change them myself but want to get the best deal for the best product.

I’m not looking to cheap out but I’m also keen to avoid the £900 options, it’s a family car and doesn’t get driven hard.

Are the discs genuine?

What’s the thickness left?

I would defo scrape the edges and just fit new pads if all in spec.

Assuming these are 400mm if on a SQ7.

New pads cheap enough for genuine items and a straight forward fit.

Got any pics?

What would you scrap the edges with, no photos to hand but I’ll get some. They’re the massive vented ones look unusual

I just used a steel ruler from the toolbox.

Sounds ghetto when I type it out lol.

Let me put it this way….. the car went for brake fluid service at Audi late last year and they told me the discs need changed shortly due to corrosion. So I gave them a gentle scrape with the ruler to remove the crud and they look like new now and no comments at the last service at Audi last month.

See my post about brake disc corrosion although that’s not the same discs mentioned above but that’s how bad that can get.

The discs look clean, front and back, I wouldn’t be considering changing if it wasn’t for the squeak. I might just chance a set of Brembo £150.

52k miles on them

How they look

They look fine mate.

That’s a tiny lip if any and perfectly normal.

I would fit new genuine pads to them and be done.

Where does that suggest I want to focus on price alone? Doesn’t everyone want the best brakes for the lowest price? Common sense

Excuse me Mark, but I’m getting vibes of frustration from your replies.

We do indeed try hard on here to answer member’s questions in a polite and constructive fashion, in relation to thread titles.

Precise thread titles are important since they form the backbone of searches which come up when members search for answers to their question.

Yours is a case in point, where a prior system search would have come up with the same constructive replies which had been given on similar queries. I take it you didn’t do that on this occasion.

Anyway, you now have an answer to your question.

Regards,

Gareth.

I’ve just had front disc’s and pad’s changed on my Q8 by the RAC they come to you they threw in brake fluid change, air con refresh full set of Bosch wiper blades and 2 key batteries they used Audi parts that won’t affect your warranty and the price around 45% cheaper than the dealership 👍

I’ll assume this attitude is why the forum is dead
