Oil change

Featured Replies

Hiya all

got a a1,oil change has just come up on screen

Audi want £270.00 to change oil ,can I get it done at any garage without affecting warranty? It's a 2015

many thanks

Cameron

Holy Cow, £270 to change oil and oil filter, I will do it for you for £250.... lol.

Its a good question though. I would try phoning a couple local VAG specialists in the area and ask for a quote and get an email response on the warranty info.

If however, its is not clear then at 2 years old I would not risk it and bite the bullet until the car is at least 3 years old.

£270 though is a lot of money, let's over guess here, £10 for oil flush solution, £20 for a filter and £40 for 5 litres of oil. £200 for labour!?! In what can be done in 1 hour but maybe 2? Main stealers more like.

Hello Cameron,

I share Dan's comments, and I feel he is being as polite as can be in his reaction to what many would consider to be an almost unbelievable quote!

Question regarding whether you can get this done at a non-Audi garage is I think answered by yes you can, providing the approved "parts" are used by the (VAT registered) garage doing the work and they provide you with receipts for the parts and work done.

If it were mine, I would first follow Dan's advice and get an alternative quotation from another Audi dealer. My suspicion here is that you might be assuming it requires an oil (and filter) change whereas the car is due for a service, and they have quoted you for the service and not simply just changing the oil and filter.

Let us know on that Cameron, and if indeed you are correct with this charge for simply changing the oil, then we can advise you what options you have from there. No point in going through it all until this bit is clarified.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Welcome to the forum Cameron:)

i hope your enjoying your A1 :)

I agree with Gareth, as long as the garage is vat registered and uses genuine parts then your warranty will be fine :)

when I worked at vw a minor service was £169. Thatvquote from Audi is outrageous!

Cheers

Hiya all

Well after talking to audi (huddersfield) it seems i was talking to the apprenitce in the office. Who after a lot of talking to the service people said it was for the cars first service.

Next day service came up on the screen, both Huddersfield and Wakefield would change the oil, filter air filter poly filter and inspect the car for £370.00 and could i book it in !!!!

After going to my local garage and having a chat over a coffee or three let them do it and send the service to Audi for £130.00 inc all audi parts.

Thanks to those people who got back to me and hope this helps others

Take it easy

Cameron
