Featured Replies

so my car drives fine its a 2006 A4 2.0 Tdi 140soft top  strong smell of diesel from fumes but no oil in the white smoke

no loss of power no shudders or judders .Oil level is good ,no loss of coolant .

ive cleaned EGR which was almost clogged to full with soot ,car has 130,000

ive tryed no smoke product, and also a k seal ultimate I have removed all the air filter box to make the space more accessible

and had the car up on jacks to 50cm to access underneath and remove the bottom plastic scuff  trays,

no signs of leaks anywhere .Any ideas as to my next move ?

Injectors and compression test. .

Unburnt fuel vapour out of the exhaust smacks of inefficient ignition stroke. Either overfueling, poor vapourisation or poor compression not giving enough heat to get the desired bang?

How long you had the car  ? Was it always smoke ?

Does it smokes when cold? hot? engine

Does it smoke on start up only or all the time ?

With colder weather and condensation you may notice more smoke then usual

Best to do a vcsd injector test first to see if values are in the range , if not they need to come out and be tested on a special jig for injestors.

its smokes only when warm nothing on start up so only when warm

never smoked before

bought the car a month ago

and yes colder weather but this is smog thick continuous once warm eases of a bit when at lights

the smoke is heavy and to say the least embarrassing  ;)

car starts on the button and doesnt miss a beat pulls strong turbo kicks in no change in performance at all

Hello Jon,

I would be investing my investigation money on a leak- back test on the injectors - at a local recommended diesel specialist rather than an Audi indi/main dealer .

Let us know what happens if you do.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hello, did you solved the problem? I have the same problem .

Regrettably, Jon never did update us from over 6 years ago. Probably well worth following the advice given through this thread, and perhaps you can keep us up to date Hugo.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

I no longer know what to do. I've already had the injectors checked, I've already changed the camshaft, I've canceled the DPF, I've already installed new valves. the problem persists.

Have you had the car on a diagnostic tester? Have you done a compression test?

Hello Hugo,

If you have read the recommendations mentioned in the posts, and you still don’t know what to do, then your best option is to take the car to a trusted diesel specialist - rather than an ‘ordinary’ garage.
Kind regards,

Gareth.
