Crankshaft broken?

Hi!

The engine normally works while it is cold, it receives a good gas after replacing the coil, sparks and cables. Even all filters.

But as soon as the engine warms to the working temperature, problems start.

The first thing: a car for a moment loses its strength, as if it were left without gas or electricity.

After that, the engine does not receive gas as normal. There is no power as normal.

Maximum speed 20-25 mph

When the car goes to the hill, the car reaches a maximum 15 mph.

Car was diagnosed today; two possible things:

a) Crankshaft sensor

b) a broken crankshaft.

If the crankshaft is broken, repairs cost over $ 1,500.

If the sensor broken, is not going to cost more than approx. $ 100-150.

Wednesday (29.11.2017.) is the day when the car is going to repair.

I wonder if the car would normally work (while the engine is cold) if the crankshat is broken?

Update: If any of the wheel's teeth, or the pins, are broken, snapped off, or worn down, then that will disrupt the pattern of the pulses. That means the crankshaft sensor will essentially be "confused" because it is receiving a flawed impression of the crankshaft's speed.

Welcome to the forum Dario :)

You'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :)

I'd say it would be more likely the sensor to be honest. Please keep us posted on how you get on.

And feel free to post a pic of your a3 in our Audi's from around the world section :)

Cheers

Steve
